The majority of drivers will never develop the skill to judge the speed of the sports cyclist. Why should they bother? They are in absolutely no danger from the cyclist. Their right to a second saved far outweighs such minor considerations as the rights of cyclists or pedestrians to travel safely. Bright _flashing_ lights might make them notice you against all their other distractions and priorities. You are a very long way down the pecking order so do not expect fairness or consideration.

You dramatized the situation by clearly turning into the red car at the last minute. Proof of this is visual, but also that "you took the lane to make yourself more visible" and then well after the red car had stopped covering the bike lane, you bolted back over to it. Why didn't you stay out in the traffic lane you had taken. At that point the red car had made contact with you and you were already well clear of him by taking the lane. Drama for your point along with "You son of a bitch".

@Sundance8989 - I think you should watch the video several more times. I had planned on staying in the lane. But, the bastard looked like he was going to pull out in front of me. I was taking making an emergancy stop and moved back into the bike lane to give myself more space. Plus, I do not want to stop in the traffic lane. There was a car behind me.

@luvmastertx Oh I've watched it several times already and I know the mission with all of your videos is to prove how dangerous commuting by bike is. Your initial reaction to take the lane to be more visible was the right one, but again, that car had clearly made eye contact with you, the nose went down and it came to a complete stop... and THEN, well after that, you turned into him from all the way over the middle lane. There was no reason for this other than over dramatizing this situation.

@luvmastertx Further more, your language towards the driver in this incident is way over the top. This driver is not a "son of a bitch" and a "bastard". A bastard would have never even been checking traffic and just punched it. This driver's view was obstructed as you correctly anticipated, and as soon as visual was made, stopped. The driver was easing out very slowly to check traffic. The front end did not rise up from acceleration and the drivers was head was turned seeking traffic.
