I think Obama is leading in the polls realistically because of his energy, his lucid speech and the feeling that he will actually bring change through a far more diplomatic approach to foreign policy. If he wins the right will almost always vilify him and the left will almost always commend. Re Palin, I felt MC HAD to pick a female to have a shot at winning (blue collar white women being a huge portion of the swing vote). At first I loved Palin as she gave a great speech, had "reform" creds and energized the Base. Also, glad to see the Reps nom a woman. But...that Couric interview! Whew! Cheers. Agreed on all fronts. The electoral mess is way below what we stand for as a country. Democracy-light :-) There are some electoral regions in texas less than a mile wide to navigate the demographics. I'm sure elsewhere too. It's hard to believe it's been tolerated for so long.

Obviously, with my political leanings, Palin has shown herself to be quite helpful and although I understand his initial intentions, I am still shocked she wasn't more thoroughly vetted.

boat: exactly. Many congressional districts look like Rohrschac inkblots. Oh-so carefully crafted district lines to create "safe" districts for both Reps and Dems. I've read that 50% of all Congressional districts are now considered "safe"; about evenly split between the Dems and Reps. The RNC/DNC LOVE safe districts and couldn't care less that it incentivizes the election of pols who are more extreme. Just one problem of many.

It's not so much the fake voter registration but the absentee voting that may accompany it. They shouldn't be allowed to vote absentee until their ID is verified. This goes back to the young voters video. They can all register but it's a different matter altogether whether they actually vote or not. ACORN can register all the fake people they want. Just don't let them send in absentee votes.
