  • Damn these are stupidly expensive. I get the whole good build quality thing and all, but most of the price is just because the company expects only multimillionaire film companies to buy these

  • @SkateboardsNShit No, its just like any other conventional camera that captures imagery from one angle, it just captures at much greater resolution in comparison to high definition video.

  • It's totally beautiful, I'm so gutted that I can't have one :(

I really enjoyed this video though, thank you.

  • @craigfromnewcastle, You can always rent one, the rentals on the Red One is beginning to come down and can vary between $450 to 850 per day.

  • @EmpEntTV

    I haven't got £4.50 man :D

Still, I enjoyed your video, thanks.

  • @EmpEntTV what kinda tripod did you use to support the red?

  • This thing has way more latitude resolution dynamic range than 5D.

  • @EmpEntTV Sorry if this is a newbie question but what format does it transfer in?

  • @hjkentproductions Red shoots in Raw and has its own codec known as Red Code but if you are using Final Cut Pro. You can easily transcode into a useable format for editing.

  • @EmpEntTV Thanks for answering my question! :D

  • what's the price of all this together?

  • Great video, tks !!

  • @tritonio Thanks for your kind comment!

  • @EmpEntTV where do you buy one of these?

  • @Jediboy671 go to Red.com and you can get it directly from the manufacturer.

  • I have heard that post production with Red footage is a nightmare for low budget film producing because of the size of the footage. I believe it is 4k? Is there a good solution for dealing with the footage size?

  • @WorkHardDreamBig Depending on the software and computer you are using, dealing with 4K is not as bad as it would seem. It helps to have as fast a processor as possible with plenty of ram. For instance we utilize Final Cut Pro 7 and it works out fine. The only issue is that FCP does not keep it on 4K but actually cuts it to 2k. In spite of the down scale the footage looks great.

  • @EmpEntTV what about the transfers to adobe cs5.5?

  • @julientb Can't say that I have experience with transfers to Adobe, you can go to RED.com and look on their forum page and can find out through those who use Adobe to edit the footage what it takes to handle the Red Files.

  • Very great to see a tutorial on the Red One! I've never got the opportunity to shoot with one and wanted to learn the cam. So this is great!

I'd (really) like to see a video on programing the camera and any helpful tips for operating, like pros and cons of the cam. Perhaps you have a video on the setup. I'll check your channel. Also, it'd be nice to see more close ups of the connectors, menu buttons and other such details. Thanks for doing the video!

  • amazingggggggg red one

  • Man, that is one big camera.

  • Great job, but I do think it would be nice for a clarification on what allens needed for each part.

  • Thats a nice Chroma Key you have there!

  • @XxMEVANSxX Thanks, our editor put a lot of effort into making it very solid.

    JR

  • @EmpEntTV Was it a blue chroma key?, Because the camera had some green stickers and the edge was slightly purple.

  • @XxMEVANSxX Yes, good observation it was a blue screen.

  • Very detailed. Great stuff. I dont think anyone can get confused about how to set this up anymore.

  • @xAgentVFX Thank you and very glad you enjoyed the video. I realize it might be a bit long but we did try and make it as detailed as possible

  • @EmpEntTV Actually you gave me really good reference shots of the components because I was making the Red One in 3D. lol thanks.

  • Right all I need to do now is save up nearly £50,000 to pay for the camera body itself & the lenses etc!

  • Very nice video. I am not a film maker myself but have been following advances in digital video as I am interested in how long it will be before film is completely replaced by digital. Frankly, I am surprised that there's not more competition among camera manufactures to build viable alternatives to film. Film is just so expensive and there are so many advantages with digital, I am surprised that film has still not been completely replaced. Some films and TV shows have been shot on REDONE.

  • Thank you very much. Very nice video

  • I heard that the audio on red cameras is kind of crappy, how do you feel about it???

  • @Mstrat86 It would be smart thing to utilize an external recorder/mixer with the camera. If you notice on the side of the camera it has mini-XLR connections that require an adapter and the internal menu settings for the audio area are a bit limited.

  • Your tutorial was most useful! I am a British filmmaker and am considering using the Red One platform for a upcoming project.

  • @danielghughes Thanks for your comments, I believe you will really like using the camera for your production and you will be quite happy with the images it provides for you.

  • Thanks, great video. very informative.

  • Too long for me to watch the entirety so I scrolled through, but Great video! What's it like working with the Red? Will you have any sample footage as well?

  • @sharkerio Pretty cool camera to work with, we will have some footage in some later tutorials.

  • What is the total cost of the whole shibang
