How to overclock your EEE 1179Mhz (XP)

That poor little celeron, even though it's a pentium M, still wouldn't recommend overclocking it past 900mhz.

That's why I'm buying the 900HA version, it's called eeePC 900HA so I can say "HA!" to all the eee pc 701 users because I'll have a 160gb drive, a 9" display and an intel atom inside my little baby laptop.

BTW, Im not saying this to be rude, I think the 701 is very good value for the money and you've god a great overclock.

speaking of overclock...i don't know what is overclock....what does overclock do? does it invrease the speed of ur mini computer or increase memory? and......i heard that other people overclock so they can play games like battlefield 2....in the past, so can you tell me what is this overclock all about? thx!

if you don't understand the simple concept of overclocking you honestly shouldnt be watching this video, I recommend you go buy more ram, that is enough to make it faster.

Overclocking is running a processor higher than it's stock rating. (From what I've heard) Every processor is built to hit a certain clock, for example 3.4GHz. However if the processor is unstable at that speed he manufacturer will reduce the clock (Ghz/Mhz) until the processor is stable. By overclocking you are simply running the processor at higher speeds that what the manufacturer say it should run at.

Heatsync? I've checked on my 900HA and it's just a thin piece of metal(1mm) and the fan seems to cool under the board (the hard drive)

A proper cooling method would be a real heatsync attached to the CPU with a piece of copper leading to the fan.

The HA is a solid state version, only the HD variant is equiped with a HD, hence its name. Unless of course, you wish to implant one yourself :P

ok here is the ONLY problem vista have it is too slow but if you have a 2.5GHx AMD or 3.0GHz Intel you are saved and games will run great and viste boot up fine just like Windows XP on a 800Mhz AMD or 1.2GHz Intel

lol i have a 3/6ghz quad core 9800gx2 4gb ddr2 and still vista gives me problems like slow loading not compatable with all my old stuff and games run very poor with or without dx10
