  • I Just started fencing!!! It's so much fun

  • I got a bronze in the Scottish Schools U15 last week...

  • I think there's quite a bit of nationalist pride here. If we're looking at the top fencers in men's foil, we're including Ota from Japan, Zhu and Lei from China, and Gerek Meinhardt who's American, but half Taiwanese. There's cultural influence in relation to Meinhardt.

Of course, foil has very good referees and the system is different, but that doesn't excuse the ignorance. We're talking about outstanding athletes. They trained hard. This is Beijing. Of course China needs to win.

  • yo , checkout my profile . add me as a friends too :)

  • This is really cool, but does anyone know where to find summer fencing classes in St. Louis? I'd like to leaarn but I'm having trouble finding classes.

  • @SirCaseyoftheLea do a google search for us fencing and you'll get a link to the us fencing association which would have links to clubs in your area.

  • @mh734 Thank you very much!

  • That second touch was amazing. i've had that doone to me before- stopcut/ perry- it is So frustrating.

  • I don't get it.

  • this is the first time i've seen fencing championships O.o, it's fast!

  • Russians won!

  • i heard somewhere that bruce lee loved to fence and incorporated some of its movements into his martial arts jeet kun do.........

  • Yeah, although I'm fairly sure it was mostly the footwork

I used to do JKD and we would sometimes do footwork drills that appeared to be similar to fencing

  • Yes bruce lee learn the footwork from fencing...

  • @portilop You are correct! :) I know your comment is > 2 years old, but... I can tell you that he utilized some terminology, and certainly adopted / loved the footwork.

Additionally, it's of great import to note that martial arts in general (ESPECIALLY from Bruce Lee's perspective)... are foundationally the same. This is why direct attacks, indirect attacks, feints... or parry + ripostes (defend & return fire)... or counter-offensive actions... are ALL PRESENT in ALL martial arts.

  • @portilop Yep, that's true. I think it was Bruce's older brother who had been a fencer. It's a great martial art and sport. I'd love to learn it!

  • who won

  • @paulvader212 zhong

  • who won????

  • I was there personally. China won. total domination. So sad though, china sucks.

  • Yeah nobody thought it was strange that China won WAAAYYY too many medals for their skill.

  • No, it wasn't strange you retard. Have you been involved in sports at the top level ie fencing, gymnastics, diving, badminton, table tennis, archery, rowing, volleyball etc etc etc? they have been achieving top results over the years, even decades. with discipline and thorough planning, they targeted glory in the 08 olympics with high success. so JAWZxz and the rest of you envious arrogant pale faced yank dick heads, pls check your facts b4 u open yr mouth.. stupid pale faced racist retard!!

  • LOL I'm english. Dual citezenshit BITCH!

  • firstly, on the whole, china sucks.

secondly, cathrinebucknell, there is no need to downplay china's achievements... why do you bash them?

  • um... why do u think china sucks? u have an issue with readng

  • Wow so i suppose you're not racist in the least. Would be taboo if i where to hate a man of a different race but when you do it its just more acceptable. Not every "white" person hated China at the olympics so before you take you're internet steroids. Think before you open you're mouth you offend alot of people most likley not one's you would offend walking down the streets.

  • While I agree with you on the fact that Chinese have outstanding discipline and planning, you should also understand that wherever the Olympics that place, it will be biased to favor the country hosting it. It has been that way for many years. I'm not disputing any results, but if you blindly believe all the judges on the panel are 100% unbiased, you are really naive.

  • @1082511 not all judges are from china though....

  • By the way, excessive use of et cetera is frowned upon by most competent human beings.

  • @dagerhobo there are like 2 billion Chinese, i don't recommend saying that.

  • sabre is the best

  • @very good games.

    @but the video not clear

  • sabre is the coolest out of all of them although epie is pretty cool though

  • yeah i used to fence epee but sabre gets really intense.
