I grew up in the 70s with this group & compared to the musical dynamics of that time this represented bad departure from their musical skills. As catchy as this song seems commercially for about 15 minutes, that's about the amount of time their longevity lasted after this period. Lots of folks saying this material was ahead of its time & they're right. When we actually got to the time this music represents ( Heavy Synth ect) .. Authentic musical presentation pretty much started sucking.

Electric Universe was EWF's first attempt at Electrofunk and it wasn't a bad attempt at all. It DID get mixed reviews because it wasn't something that listeners were used to getting from them. CBS records pushed hard for another project, EWF pushed right back but eventually the band gave in and produced Powerlight, spawning a few great singles. The video was as weird as Electric Universe. Unusual was what EWF stood for so it worked for them regardless of how it looked, it worked.
