Hyacinths are truly gentle giants! My Hyacinth Macaw client of 15 years loves to get just soaked. We play hide and seek and when it's my turn to chase her, she hops like a bunny and then rolls over in her back with feet in the air for a hood cuddle! On my page , I have a short video of her turning on the kitchen faucets for a bath.
Frisco, my green wing and my Timneh Grey, Nikko love warm showers. Frisco likes to stand on my head, wings flapping and tail feathers wiggling in complete jo
aw I am so sorry about Chloe....they are part of the family...I have two mini macaws ...a noble and severe and one African grey! I always wanted the bigger guys!
I am happy to hear about your green tipped macaw, I adore those macaws!
She really needs to be put right in the shower my Greenwing LOVES it. Misting with that only wets the top layer of feathers and they really need to get wet right down to the skin at least once a week (I do my Greenwing 4 times a week)to keep the skin clean and also to keep them from getting dry skin which can make them itchy and over preen.
They are about as rare as adussenburg car, only a few thousand or so made. I have never seen one live even at a zoo. I hear they are the largest of the macaws and one of the gentlest of the macaws but no mistaking it you dont want to get on the bad side of a bird like that they can take off fingers or more. noo matter how gentle, they are very large
They're such beautiful birds. It's too bad that they're being made into pets instead of having their habitat saved. Soon it's the only way anyone will see them is as a pet.
It will cost you much more than that. They need giant cages, tons of wood to chew, and their diet needs to be expensive nuts like macadamia, palm and coconuts. The purchase price is just the beginning with these guys.
that's so sweet! my sun conure loves to dunk his head right under the faucet. he also loves to be dried with a hair dryer (he tends to get really cold when he's sopping wet)
im getting 2 macaw , right like this one , in 1-2 weeks , shiping from humm cant remember , we adopting them , a male and a female , 8 and 10 month old , so cute :) yours nice , Nice video too.
Thank you for your comments. I have a new Greenwing Macaw as of just a few months ago and have a video of him posted to youtube. Just do a search on "Reggie D. Bird" to take a look - need to turn up the sound to get the full effect. Thanks again - Rick
Chloe is beautiful. I'm sorry about your loss. I've only had my Grey for a month or so, but I'm already so attached to him. Those birdies sure can capture your heart.
Hyacinths are endangered and difficult to find but not illegal to purchase. With the loss of Chloe last October, I'm currently on a waiting list for another hyacinth.
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please see my video clip on a parrot animation and some Victorian trading cards of exotic birds such as parrots, paradise bird, toucan, humming bird etc.
I now how it is to lose a bird, I had a cockatiel for only 9 days but we bonded instantly he was just a baby that had just grew his grown up feathers I loved him SO much he was my baby and he new I was his mommy. He was so smart that he learnd not only his name but how to say it, he would play fetch and let me cup my hand over him in a "bird hug". I can tell from your vid that you loved your bird.
I'm sooo sorry and sad to hear abt the loss of your "baby"..I send you all my sympathy... Poor baby ..you was soo cute! But thanks You Tube to allow to watch your pet again and again all over the world..Take care :)
Rick, as a fellow bird owner I offer my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences on your loss. It was great to see a bird so well treated and loved, she must have had a great time with you. Good luck and best wishes,
Hello - regrettably, my Hyacinth came down with a sickness and I lost her after only having her home 3 months. Although there was strong indications of veterinarian malpractice, my pursuit of legal action came up empty. Chloe was a very special pet and miss her more than I can say. For now, I'm so happy that I took the time to film her to, in a sense, immortalize her and show the world how beautiful she was.
OMG Rick that's so horrible! I'm so very sorry! I have had my moluccan for 10 years ...I would feel like I'm dieing! Perhaps after awhile you can get a rescued bird perhaps (with a good vet checkup on the way home). Good luck and once again I'm so very sorry.
I do volunteering with large birds here in Canada and would love to get a hyacinth once I move into a bigger house. They are a great family investment and very gentle.
What a beautiful bird!! I love birds and have three parakeets, but eventually I want a hyacinth macaw when I get a house, lol! I've seen them in a store here in miami. . .huge and really really pretty! Congrats!
Absolutely Fantastic, you know its my ambition to actually see one of these in real life :=) Welcome to the youtube Chloe heres hoping we see a lot more of you round here :-)
Chloe is beautiful. You know if treated very well with proper diet they can stay alive for 100 years. My family in Brazil had one who leave 1002 years old.He was the owner of our house.die 15 years ago. I love see more videos of Chloe.
Thanks for the compliment - I've only had her about 2 months and you're correct on this being QUITE an investment - right at 10 G's but once I got a BIG stinless steel cage, a tree, toys, carrier and all the essentials, the total package was closer to 15 G's.

yeah must be huh? Those birds can be upwords of $15,000! Plus the vet bills.
nickfoelly 4 years ago
wellll... thats if you buy one. you can adopt, or get one from a breeder which is a million times less expensive.
Pet shops make their money somehow..
