Hmmm... this kind of film just reinforces the stereotypes that people have about trans-racial adoption. It's true that there are some trans-racial adoptees who feel resentment, but it's false, and OFFENSIVE to assume that ALL of them do.
Why couldnt she just hop on a plane back to China and figure out her culture and who she was? Rather then dragging her real parents through the dirt for maybe what she didnt think they gave her and should have. Because instead of taking responsiblity for herself she decided to go through theropy and do drugs and blow all her money that way. But I am sure if you ask her, her parents forced her to do drugs also and they are to blame.
They adopted her in the 70's and like most American families in that time, the mother stayed at home and took care of the family and the husband went to work to support. So no they didnt have time to read all the books she did to convince herself that they did her so wrong, They were too busy raising, feeding, clothing and schooling her. I just hope that both parents passed on before this film was done and she made them watch it, as a parent I can'ge sitting and watching such a piece of trash.
This was a very bad video, I was so mad after watching it. Jennifer is such a selfish, whiny, ungrateful girl. Yes everyone could see that she had problems dealing with her issues, but after reading so many books and listening to so many doctors.
Jennifer was left by her nature mother and family, and her she is trying to glorify them and make them into the hero's. Then this family raised and offered her the life and oportunities that she has today and she acts like they did something wrong.
@dct1ca1 They DID do something wrong. They imported yet another non-white into a White country. Thus, they deserve all the flack they get from her and so much more.
wouldnt it be much easier and less painful for everyone involved, if people adopted kids from their own race, culture or country? i know there is millions of kids out there that are suffering but why not help them in other ways like sponsoring them or something. it would be much easier for adopted children to be adopted to parents of the same race or culture.
Lots of kids experience racial prejudice. And sometimes it's not even racial. I've seen kids who take crap because they speak too well, or they look strange.
The parents make the difference. When kids are bullied at school, it's up to the parents to listen and to provide coping strategies.
If we had been raised in Asia, we wouldn't have these losses to begin with. And there would have *been* NO international adoption obstacles to bring to awareness.
Awesome documentary. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. It's not racist as one commentor noted...it's totally anti-racist. Haven't watched the companion DVD yet, but the movie itself was awesome.
This was a documentary you jackass. Maybe if you knew anything about transnational adoption, you wouldn't be so inclined to make a fool of yourself. GG.
I highly recommend this DOCUMENTARY for adoptive parents and adoptees alike. Adopting a transracial child requires more than love to overcome the psychological obstacles they will face in American society.
why adopt from overseas ?? adopt from the thousands of kids in the US needing homes

So what about all those white babies in orphanages? Why go all the way to China to adopt?

Had you been raised raised in Asia... interrogating and disrespecting your parents who toiled to raise you as best they could wouldn't fly.

@friarcajun good baby = your own baby that you had yourself out of your own body. You are not entitled to anyone else's child.
