  • @mrzebra239 Hotness? It's Tori Amos, so I'm going to go with the answer is hotness.

  • i like tht song but the lyrics arent propriate if u see her interview discusing about why she made tht song ull be shocked !

  • @itisthefear Now your comment has me intrigued...her lyrics are so complex & the meanings fascinating. Started listening this AM, can't get anything else done...

  • @jlalewicz well i heard from an intervew that she made this song for the child she lost durin her pregnancy.

that their both together in a world but she cant take the child with her to escape from it she is the only one who can escape not her child thats what she said in her intervew

but on the other hand the song's lyrics have nothign to do with tht and if u try to connect those 2 things u get a bad result. :/

  • @itisthefear From what I understand this song is mostly an open letter to God about how things are done. Example being: Why do we have countless people pray your name constantly when kids are born in bad homes, exceptionally rich homes, yet one seemingly random person who would love a child more than they can imagine anyone else would can have a miscarriage. Why do those who praise your name so greatly suffer so much? Why is this your will? Stuff like this.

  • my favorite Tori Era, and the first Tori album i bought, From The Choirgirl Hotel is simply a masterpiece!!

  • Is there a DVD of this concert?

  • such a great and oustanding career... ♥

  • This is called "craft." And passion. It's not about shock value or what things look like or how radio-playable or marketable it is. When this band is playing, it's about craft. I love Tori 4-ever! :)

  • epic, gorgeous performance......love Tori always

  • From The Choirgirl Hotel.

Most emotional Tori album - and, in my opinion - most beautiful.

  • this is my favorite tori era too..i just loved the plugged tour..her energy was amazing..plus it was the first time she had gone out on a major tour with her band..anything she touches turns to gold in my eyes though..

  • omg this song is epic :D any other live versions of it live?!

  • just one Tori video, then the next, and another .... oh it's 3:00 am ..

  • @eggknob I know the feeling.. It just never ends!

  • @eggknob I know the feeling.. It just never ends! In a good way I mean, of course :P

  • I love this one. So much better than the album version, especially the little piano interlude.

  • how can anyone dislike this? she is pure gold. brilliant woman, beautiful art

  • Beautiful!

  • Who's the 1 person who disliked this?!

  • 5:34. Just one of many reasons to love this performance.

  • Damn...

  • This is my very favorite live performance! I love this version of iieee. When she says "you took my little girl" you can feel the pain and anger she feels over her miscarriages. Sometimes Tori's lyrics can be difficult to get the meaning right away but this song really expresses her pain.

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to get the audio for these Sessions on 54th Street somewhere? So that I can listen to them on my iPod? :) This is really awesome.

  • @Pinkdolphinstreet : you can find all the files for these Sessions in the "diagnosed sound" part of hereinmyhead site.

  • I know we're dying and there's no sign of a parachute. <3

  • Tori Amos has outdone herself here in more ways than one here. HOLY TORI! That was a f'n brilliant performance. My love for this song has been re-kindled. Wow wow wow wow wow!

  • Killer piano tone. What's your secret Mark?

  • thanks dboles27 and hey, is being pregnant a bad thing? why thumbs down?

just a question... her belly looks a bit rounder than usual

  • @PODYUH yeah, the thumbs down had me scratching my head too. seems some tori fans have problems with, well, any comment or question that doesn't tout how amazing she is. i think it was a perfectly legitimate question, especially since her daughter was born not too too long after this.

  • is she pregnant here? because obviously her moves make some allusion that it might be so

  • this song is about one of her miscarriages, so i think the gestures are referencing that. although she had several miscarriages around this time, so it's possible she was pregnant here.

  • The essence of this song has an incredible sex appeal to it, especially during the bridge.

Tori is such a captivating artist and performer - infectious!

  • what is the name of the man in blue.

  • jon evans

  • I love "From the Choirgirl Hotel". So raw, so much passion in that album. These live performances are real diamonds in the rough.

Also I love the musical chemistry that she has with every band member... the visual chemistry between her and the bassist at the start is so sexy!

  • forgot about this tune.....awesome

  • Awesome song

  • This is literally one of her best performances of all time.

I am always near tears when she sings, "I know you understand, understand the way I feel. You took, you took my little girl"

  • what year is this? 1998?

  • I think it's the Sessions at West 54th from 1998.

  • this is for sure my favorite tori era.

  • Oh, mine too. By farrrrr.

  • I'm seeing her for the first time in a month! its going to be the highlight of my life!

  • This woman is unparallelled (sp?) and this is one of the reasons why. I pray that i will eventually be able to see her live b/c she is the exemplary female singer-songwriter...basically bar none.

  • she seems to be heavily influenced by kate bush, who i find is an exceptionally talented female artist.

my favourite by far, and tori comes joint second with pj harvey

  • I prefer to think that both women are not afraid to experiment and do things which are not so acceptable in music industry. Therefore their eccentric style does produce similarities.

  • @tsaok123

    i hear similarities, that's all

    but i agree

also, i always find it funny when people thumb down other people's opinions

    *sigh* youtube...

a place where some people's opinions are valued more than others...

  • I agree, and this is mainly due to the fact that many people who go on youtube do not know how to post comments. They believe that they can be as rude or dismissive as they like to other people.

  • you have to understand, tori fans are those little fascists who explode in their panties over any dissenting opinion of Ms. Amos.

  • So divine.

  • She is my goddess.. That simple..

Είναι η θεά μου.. Έτσι απλά..

    *

  • k h dikia mouuuuuu:))

  • 牛叉!!

    loooooooove it !!!!!!!!!

  • Eeeee-yikkkz ... I waz so enraptured .... By your E's and your ease! That I looked down and my ice cream melted from the stick and the chocolate stayed square around it? Guess ya had to be here? Trippie man! Very trippy? And Matt n Jon's hypnotic rhythms tranced me out man. How many songs have these words in 'em together? Arsonist, grace, elegance, cathedrals, beautiful, Chapel, parachute, sacrifice and love and God ????? What a context EEEee-ease!!! I love it! See ya at the Oakland Paramount.

  • is this from a DVD? what is this footage from?

  • I don't believe this has ever been released on DVD. It's from a PBS show called Sessions at West 54th. They had a special full hour show with Tori back in '98 I believe. The Trio network then re-aired the program.

  • ohmygod. she's incredible

  • I cant get enough of this version -thanks!

  • Same here!!!

  • I love this vid and this version of song very much!

  • This is my favorite version. Thanks .

  • Magnificent Tori, thanks for posting. She can reinterpret her own songs and they sound even better than the original versions.

  • Kocham ją!!!!!!!!:)))

  • best iieee ever!!!!!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Magick~feel it?

  • Tori Amos is Aphrodite and Athena reincarnated into one woman she is truly a gift from the Gods.

  • @damiencale with a little Persephone in there!!! :)

  • Wow, I just discovered this...that is one of the finest performances I have ever seen or heard of...of anyone ever...Tori is the greatest, seriously...brilliant xoxoxo!!!

  • That blew me away.

  • i love her expression on 6:00 that's amazing

  • The best performer ever!

  • This is amazing...

  • Aaaah.. this is the best version of Iieee i agree with almost everyone who posted here.. i think this is much better than the original.. her voice is perfection..

  • This is ABSOLUTELY my fave performance ever of IIEEE. The whole thing is just flawless and LOVE the improv addition starting at 4:30.

  • Sublime, perfecta, increíble. Siempre Tori. para siempre.

  • "I know we're dying

And there's no sign of a parachute"

yes tori, i'm not proud of this reality either. honest.

  • Omg..I'm speechless..there are no words to describe this fucking enchanting performance!

  • Thanks so much Aereoflash for all the videos!! This concert is my favorite episode of the West 54th series (and that's saying a lot).

  • This performance needs to be realeased on DVD!!!

  • that's right, i want a dvd for that... she looks like a goddess here and the performance is overall beautifully shot. I'm shocked by the Florida dvd each time i put it in, how bad it is. it's cut and shot ugly, irritating, and even tori looks really bad there. and she is one of the most beautiful women on earth so that's something... I love every song from this performance, especially this one, IIEEE. it's nice to have a HQ performance for precious things and wautress as well

  • Totally agree.

I guess the Florida DVD proved to be a big dissappointment for a lot of Tori fans. It's irritating the way it was shot and she didn't look good.

My sister taped this show in VHS and, unfortunately, she lost it. So glad it was posted here.

BTW: this is my favorite song of the show.

  • I love this perfomance so much I can't find words for it.....

  • The piano-solo blows me away... again and again.

  • Can't stop loving.

  • Wonderful... no words...

  • brilliance!

  • so does she trigger the wrong sample at 1:38? is that what the face is about? nice show of professionalism that she can just keep going without missing a beat.

  • This is a spectacular version of this song.

    *sigh* She is breathtaking...

  • I would also like to add that she looks beautiful, I mean she is almost glowing...

  • she is the goddess

  • I love this song!! It really shows off her voice!! Thank You so much for adding this one!!

  • the. best.

  • WOW
