I tried watching one of the Celebrity BBs on youtube, but with that narrator's boring voice talking during every single scene, and just watching the houseguests sit around and talk all day without any fun challenges or action, I couldn't wait for the episode to end. No wonder BB UK got cancelled, and BB US is still going strong for the 13th season this year.
The UK BB was cancelled because it needed high ratings on a big network to survive. It lasted ten years on a big networkl whereas the US BB is on a small network. They commercialise the fuck out of it, so in the end it looks fake. At it's peak the UK BB got 7 million viewers regularly (a tenth of the population) and 5.5 million votes in the final. That's more than a program, that's a national institution.

@Mulchahy I disagree, the "best" player almost never wins the entire show. I'd say Dan, Jordan, and Will are the exceptions. Because if you think about it, the other winners have all kind of sucked at one aspect of the game.
@FlicTuckFull - I agree with you. I hated Maggie and everything she embodied during Season 6, but she was a great player. The mind control that she displayed with The Friendship was impressive. Without Maggie, The Friendship would have imploded because Ivette and April hated each other. And her end game was flawless. She manipulated Ivette into taking her to the finals. Ivette had a better chance of beating Janelle than Maggie, but Ivette fell on her own sword just to keep a promise. Dumb!

@dman747707 I agree with you regarding Will and Dan because they were the best players in their season and actually won. But Jordan was by no means the best player in BB11. I think the best player was Natalie, she might be a vile, conniving bitch but Natalie ran circles around Jordan. The only reason why Jordan won is because Natalie was hated by almost everyone, including her beloved Jessie. Had Jordan gone to the end with Kevin or even with Michele, her win wouldn't have been a guarantee.
Also, the fact that all the houseguests had to walk by "Go Jordan" signs and only a couple, if any, for Natalie, certainly didn't help houseguests that wanted to gain America's acceptance.
@JoshinSGV In a game like this you can't really say that someone that hated was the best player. At the end of the day Big Brother is a social game with competitions. But as Jordan and Will proved you don't have to be great at the competitions to be a great player.

@Mulchahy I disagree, the "best" player almost never wins the entire show. I'd say Dan, Jordan, and Will are the exceptions. Because if you think about it, the other winners have all kind of sucked at one aspect of the game.

@FlicTuckFull - I agree with you. I hated Maggie and everything she embodied during Season 6, but she was a great player. The mind control that she displayed with The Friendship was impressive. Without Maggie, The Friendship would have imploded because Ivette and April hated each other. And her end game was flawless. She manipulated Ivette into taking her to the finals. Ivette had a better chance of beating Janelle than Maggie, but Ivette fell on her own sword just to keep a promise. Dumb!

@dman747707 I agree with you regarding Will and Dan because they were the best players in their season and actually won. But Jordan was by no means the best player in BB11. I think the best player was Natalie, she might be a vile, conniving bitch but Natalie ran circles around Jordan. The only reason why Jordan won is because Natalie was hated by almost everyone, including her beloved Jessie. Had Jordan gone to the end with Kevin or even with Michele, her win wouldn't have been a guarantee.

I try to tell people I know from England, Aussieland, etc that. They say the show is stupid, and I know they're not understanding that the show is comepletely different. America doesn't vote people out, the contestants do all the scheming...kinda like on Survivor.
Season 1, however, WAS like all the other versions where the viewers voted. It was REALLY boring. I sat through SO many youtube videos of it! It was torture, but the rest are pure entertainment.
