They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
May The souls of those who gave their lives for their country, be they British, American, French, Australian or South African rest in peace. And may they be able to look at what their country has become and be proud. Thankyou so much for giving your lives to end the world of tyranny.
May the souls of German Soldiers fallen in WW1 and WW2 rest in peace...blame the leaders, not those who were forced to do what the leaders told them.
This song make me cry to think of my boyfriend in the Air Force. I can't wait to see him again. I miss him, and I hope he stays safe forever. What an excellent job John Williams did on this score. I pray for the men and women in our armed forces, and may God bless them, and may God bless America
Beautiful masterpiece. I think we can all agree that John poured his heart out into this. I'm glad to have listed to this right before I made my first YouTube account.
"At the call of King and Country they left all that was dear to them, endured hardness faced danger and finally passed out of the sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice giving up their own lives that others might live in freedom".
lovely song. This touches my soul in many ways. America may not be THE best country, and it may not have the best culture, but there are many who make this nation what it is. Any man who fights on behalf of his fellow men to preserve basic universal human rights, whether they defend their good culture and heritage, or stop foreign invaders bent on violence, all such men deserve respect.
This film is from 1998, yet every time I watch it, it never fails to move me. It never fails to make me thankful for all of those lives sacrificed for us then and now on all sides. It never fails to make me cringe from the brutality of war and the horrors endured by those who gave everything. For a film to still impact me the same and in some ways more than when I originally saw it, that says more than words ever could. My #1 movie without a doubt.
@airbornemilk89 i agree completely. we (humans) should be looking back to the wars to see that such brutality should never come of us again, our world leaders need to learn that. its been proven that humans are naturally violent, and sometimes i think we're too stupid to realise it. CPL Upham realised that the war was pathetic and his pureness was scarred and that he realised how bad and stupid we are as humans. my grandfather felt the same way, and burned his uniform after his 6 year service.
How many of you by the raise of thumbs would surrender your lives for the greater good of humanity. This is a serious question. I want you to look in your heart and ask yourself this question. Would you tell your family goodbye, band together in the arms of your brothers? In other words, how many of us would willingly put aside our lives so others can remain safe? Whether in the Name of God, or the Sake of Mankind? I honestly don't think I could. But I guess if you guys did, so would I. Gladly.
@JimmyPageMarley1 That is a great question. On the one hand I would because if it truly meant that people were liberated and able to live a life of choice and made good with it then YES I'd risk myself. But when I look upon those I went to school with and those around my own age and see the way they treat society, I wouldn't give up my life so that they and their kids, etc. could treat the place like shit and have no respect for themselves let alone others. I'm sorry that is not worth it IMHO
@JimmyPageMarley1 ....it would be selfish of me to take the latter view of my previous response. If many took that view in the previous battles of years gone by that have shaped our modern world many of us would not be here. It is wrong of me to say that I would deprive others who would be thankful and honour themselves as well as others the chance at a better world just because I believe others would do otherwise. It's a question I could only ever answer if the situation arose
@JimmyPageMarley1 In my opinion Humanity is a long lost idea. The way people treat each other and all the wars and killing that happens is really sad. Don't get me wrong there are great people out there. They just seem to be harder to find. As an Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom vet I put my life on the line for my Country but it was more in keeping my own family and friends safe rather then others. That may be selfish but that's my own flaw.
@bbeboutuaa Although I am not an American: thanks for serving, and for protecting the free countries around the world as well. I wouldn't really give up on humanity, I think we are sort of an awesome species, with flaws, just like the one you admitted to yourself. But we also do a whole lot of good things. I believe that the bad things are simply there so the good things can become even better...
my grandfather passed away a few years ago. he fought in some of the worst of it in japan. he was a great man, who served along side many great men. also the men who fought in europe, every american soldier that was there, was a great man.
All the brave men and women who served their country who are alive or in the Heavens, Thank You for serving your country and thank you for letting new generations to come , you make us proud!

"History is written by the winners" that is soo true... 4 esample in Poland after war everybody was talking about Auschwitz (genocide of the Jews by Nazis) and nobody was talking about Katyń (genocide of Polish officers by Stalin)
