How do you look for pegmatites? There is a tourmaline/beryl region near me but it is heavily forested so as to make finding outcroppings hard unless they are alongside the roads or on trails I know well.
I've spent many hours gathering USGS and other maps and learning the area.

Been there of course :) my friend pulled a perfect crystal from rose quartz like 2 1/2 foot long and 3 inches in diameter.

Oooh and don't forget the cool old quartz mine in Pamo on the back end of Mesa Grande. Some nice Rose Quartz and some big black tourmalines. :)
