What's your definition of free? Probably not the same as that of the Libyan people. Qaddafi already had implemented some form of Sharia Law. It was one of the few things that made his rule tolerable to the people. Why wouldn't they want it? It's lacking the Saudi cultural gender laws and Iranian Clergy laws that we criticize so often.

I'm sure the fact that some innocent sub-saharans were detained and killed had more to do with Qaddafi's rebel army being composed initially of fighters from Niger and Ghana. If you can't do a little deductive analysis, you have no idea how war works. When a war breaks out, people typically suspect the invading party in its whole. Like the Russians here in the states during the soviet era, or the middle-eastern American communities in the post 911 US.

Yeah, we learned not to trust the pronouncements of the NTC. Remember when they said they captured one of his sons to only see him free just days later? We have no idea how legit their story is. One video shows Gadaffi alive, another shows him bloodied and injured. Another shows him dead. What exactly happened? My guess? He was just beaten/lynched, and the NTC made up a story about him getting shot in crossfire. Who knows though.
