As you play, the guitar talks to me, really in song. It's very magical to listen to such an accomplished and talented musician play a piece that becomes so close to a spiritual experience you can almost taste it with your ears. Well done, my friend.
I haven't listened to this is a while. I was reviewing my favorites folder. What a beautiful rendition and the tonality on the guitar is amazing. You probaby recorded this with better than average audio equipment, but I'll bet the guitar has wonderful tone. What is it?
The guitar is a Taylor GC Custom with the expression pickup system pumped into a Zoom A2 Acoustic Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal which is pumped directly into the computer via a USB port. No real fancy equipment other than the guitar.
@RichardSharp Thanks Richard. I just listened to this again; I come back to it every now and again. The lryics are so beautiful and touching and yet the music stands alone on its own too, especially with your interpretation on this cover. You were so helpful in your last response to my inquiry, I'm going to ask you another question. How did you fade the audio and video at the end? It's such a nice affect.
@RichardSharp Thanks Richard. I'm very new to this video stuff. I suppose I could record a song on my wife's Apple (What to save it as I'm really not sure...maybe Quicktime movie, or AVI, I don't know; something that I could then put into i-Movie and edit that way? I may start experimenting. Anyway, thanks for your response. I love your Taylor and the music you make with it. Keep posting...Dennis
I also wanted to ask you what kind of guitar you're playing. It's beautiful and more importantly, has tremendous sound. Also, the video syncs nicely with the sound. I suspect you didn't use the webcam and mic that came with the computer to record this on you tube. I'm curious.
The guitar is a 2004 GC-Custom Taylor, Sitka top, Maple sides and back, with Elixor light Phosphorous Bronze strings. The sound track is recorded directly into the computer via a Zoom A2.1u box with only room effect turned on. The video is recorded with a sound track that is stripped out once the better quality track is lined up in the Adobe Premier Elements software.
very nice rendition. i especially appreciate what you did with the "bookends theme" part of this version of old friends/bookends. Not too different, but uniquely different. well done. The lyrics are so very wonderful too, but terribly difficult to duplicate (who the hell can sing like art garfunkel anyway?) More people should play it and not sing it, like you did.
Good job. Nice idea and arrangement. I'm impressed.

@tremoloheart I use Adobe Premiere Elements which has many features and among them is the opetion to fade in or out and at what ever rate you like.

me again...the more I play this the more I appreciate what you've done. Have you tabbed this? And how long have you been playingthe guitar
tremoloheart 3 years ago
I do not have TABs for this one. I am following the lyrics with chords (plus what is inside my head) in the video.
I have been playing finger style since the mid 70s after doing a self study of classical music.
