  • Is that her real voice? If it is, it sounds really... unique. But I can picture it considered beautiful in the 1930s or something.

  • @aubergined Helen Kane was a novelty singer, meaning her songs and voice were considered considered humorous and whimsical, not exactly beautiful. Novelty music was very popular in the 1920s and 30s. Plus, she inspired the character of Betty Boop, so many viewed her as a real life cartoon character because of her voice and mannerisms.
