Is it just me or does most of Zimmers music sound the same these days? This sounds just like Dark Knight, Gladiator, etc. Same progression, slightly different layout. Not to rain on his success or all; it IS satisfying to the ear, but it seems like his music is more "one size fits all" nowadays. The only groundbreaking piece he ever had was from Lion King IMO. Can't really complain though, the music isn't meant to make history or anything like Williams music, it's just mean to compliment picture

@thphaca whenever i see a new movie i try to guess the composer. if its williams or zimmer, i get it right everytime. when i saw sherlock holmes, i knew it was zimmer based on the rhythm and the instrument he was using. i think they get to a poing where they have developed their voice as much as possible and we can hear it wherever it is sung

@jeremy92morgan Actually I agree with that. Zimmer has developed his own language... based on predictable chords, limited orchestration and sometimes ghostwriters who make his music for him... Though I don't pretend that other composers don't do it... though I highly doubt John Williams did it because he only scored one movie every 3 months, albiet tons of them in the end. These starts take too much credit from others IMO. Zimmer from ghostwriters, James Cameron from Harlan Ellison, etc.

@moonmanperez It's not sniffling, it's the violinist taking breaths. This usually happens during rests, but can happen at any time, and is used for emphasis. Most players don't even realize they're doing it.

If you listen very carefully, a clearly defined breath happens at 1:09/1:10 when the theme starts again.
