Gruden deserved to be canned. He's overrated and fairly classless. His one Super Bowl was largely the result of Tony Dungy.

I have to disagree as well boss. He needed to go. He couldn't develop talent. He couldn't win a playoff game. Shit half of the time he couldnt even get us to the playoffs. Lets see how many different QB's we have gone through in the last 7 years. Johnson, Simms, Gradkowski, Garcia, Griese. Do i need to continue. That is 5 QB's in 7 years. Sorry you need consistancy at the QB position and that my friend is a major lack of consistancy at the key position of your offense. Sorry but GOOD RIDANCE!

Disagreement is good! I definitely see the argument. Godo and consistent QB's are hard to find and harder to develop. For every Peyton there are far more JP Losman's. His job was to win games. In the end, he did not win enough and management made a change.

Johnson - When removed was horrible (Great SB Win, but done). Simms - (Horrible pre-injury. Not much better post). Bruce - Too much too son broke his head (IMO). Garcia - Solid performer. Regressed this year. Griese - Quality backup.

Love the Bucs, HATED Gruden.Thank God he is gone. Why?

1. Didn't use Alstott...Nuff said there

2. Didn't give QB'S a chance...Simms, McCown, Gradkowski.....Need a consistant QB Jon

3. Two or three playoffs in 8 years and no wins.....yep, he is a coaching god

4. Destroyed the Dungy team that he won the superbowl with....if it aint broke...LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

Okay, nobody can take away the fact that Gruden won a Super Bowl, but the NFL is all about "What have you done for me lately?" All that the Bucs had to do was beat the lowly Raiders in Week 17, and Gruden would probably still have a job.

I'm surprised that this didn't happen years ago. Gruden won a Super Bowl with Dungy's team. Then he proceeded to do nothing else worth mentioning except a couple of first round playoff exits. He's overrated.

First of all, Dungy could have won the Super Bowl with the 2002 Bucs even though the 2001 Bucs were eliminated early. Also, I don't think that it's fair to call the 2006 Colts Mora's team, since that was five years after he was fired. Well, I see your argument, but the Bucs still fired him. Evidently, the players didn't like him much either. Also, it's funny that a loss to Gruden's old team (Raiders) ended up being why he was fired.

Here's the most important fact: the Bucs haven't won a playoff game since winning the Super Bowl six years ago, despite winning a couple of NFC South Championships.

Dungy could have won the Bowl in 2002 if he was coaching the Bucs. But what you under estimate, ia the true reason the bucs won that game. Gruden led that team to victory because he knew Oakland's Playbook. He took snaps to teach his team how to read Gannon. Dungy wasn't privy to that information, and the Raiders Offense was Fucking Wicked that year. You can speculate, but we will never know, it's history, I'm happy that made Raiders were 3-0 this decade in regular season against the bucs!

So I was off by a year, so fucking what. So from 1976 to 2008 the Raiders were 6-1 in regular season against the bucs, so really, when it come to playing against the Raiders, the bucs suck big time. Raiders 3 Super Bowl Championships, Bucs 1, Raiders were alway in Silver and Black, what year did you guys change them ugly ass uniforms and stupid mascot? Hall of Fame, Jim Otto, George Blanda, Willie Brown, Gene Upshaw,Fred Biletnikoff, Art Shell, Ted Hendricks, Al Davis, Mike Haynes... bucs suck!

I wasn't correcting you. I was just guessing the years, but 1999-2008 is a decade. I don't know what year the Bucs changed their uniforms, but it was sometime in the late 1990's. I'm not a Bucs' fan either. I guess that Sapp could go into the Hall of Fame.

What difference does uniforms have to do with how well your team plays football. Obviously, the Silver and Black doesn't work anymore... When all of your "Hall of Famers" played, The Bucs were a "start-up" Franchise. And I'll admit we sucked when we came into the NFL. (Yuckaneers) The difference is today. The Bucs are a legit organization and the Raiders are a joke. Yeah we choked at the end of the year...but you choked at the BEGINNING of the year and where out of it from the get-go!!!

@WhatTheBuc Ok, here's some data for you. After winning the Superbowl in 03, Gruden compilled a 45-51 record in 6 seasons. During those six 6 seasons they made the playoffs only twice losing both games at home. In his final season they ended the month of November at 9-3. They lost there next 3 games to drop to 9-6. All they had to do was win there final game at home against The 4-11 Raiders.

Looked easy on paper but in the end they blew a 10 point 4th quarter lead and lost to go 9-7.

Actually, he might. His firing in the post-season is late and most teams looking for new head coaches are already in their 2nd interviews with canidates. He has 3 years left on his contract with the Bucs. 3 yrs payed leave, he should relax for a year...

I think there are plenty of teams that would love Jon Gruden to coach for them. Whether he coaches or not this year, I'm not sure; but I don't think he'll have a shortage of opportunities.

As you was, I was mad disappointed with the end of the season. It was a straight collapse. 0-4 and a lost to a team we should have beat (Raiders). That game was lost to a second-string running back and I was digusted with the defensive performance for the end of the season. IMO, Gruden's dismissal was over-due and he shouldnt have gotten the contact extention. Bruce was a surprise to me. Time can only tell on what to do now. Time can only tell whats is gonna happen. Bring Shanahan!
