HEY WATS UP MAN I HAVE A QUESTION? I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 1975 BUICK CENTURY AND IT HAS NO MOTOR OR TRANNY IN IT, I WAS WONDERING WAT KIND OR MOTOR AND TRANNY DOES IT NEED, ALSO WAT KIND OF CAR CAN I TAKE THE MOTOR AND TRANNY OUT OF AND PUT IT IN MINES. THANKS
@DASHAUN1524 '75 Buick Century's had either a Buick 231cid V6 (later renamed to the "3800" motor), Buick 350 (although you could use Chevy, Pontiac or Oldsmobile 350s) or a Buick 455. Transmission can be TH350 or TH400. Since you don't have a transmission, the TH400 is the better of the two. More rugged. TH400's are very easy to find. GM used them a lot.
My grandfather drove a 1975 V6 Buick Century 4 door sedan. I am glad there are a few of us out there who still like Buicks. I never knew about this edition of the Century- but I am glad that you did and that yu want to make the effort to restore this car. What happened to the decals that were originally on the car? Was the car repainted so the decals were removed? And yes, I agree with the remark about the guy with the 76 Century- when you find a car this old, you keep it original.
i love this car and i finally got myself a classic and im in for a big project i bought a 1968 pontiac catalina 2+2, the model thats like a fastback with a 400 and the 400 turbo tranny the interior is like mint besides a cracked dash. the engine started right up after being parked 5 years in just one crank. body is pretty solid all around except for passenger side qtr, the hood, and the trunk lid. which i bought it 2 days ago for $700 ive sanded the driver side and put in primer only after 1 day
can u tell me about my car. i have the 76 4 door v6 century. i think its special edition or custom. u seem like youd know the exact version i have, and maybe even help me wit interchangeabilty. id love to switch out my front seats for sumthin a lil more modern
You have a Century, model 4AD29-Four-Door Colonnade Sedan. 33,632 were produced for the year. Do not put anything "modern" in it. Restore it else you'll wreck a fine car.
I used to drive a 1975 Buick Century Special coupe with the two tone fastback top (gold body and white painted top). She had the 3.8L V6 and was a great first car. She had lots of rust, but was a nice highway cruiser. Thanks for the look back.
The rarest to the best of my knowledge is the 1976 Buick Free Spirit Skyhawk. They are absolutely impossible to find. I had trouble even locating pictures of one on the internet - that's how rare it is.
@rmenga there so ugly haha i just finished rebuilding the motor in my 76 buick freespirit. ill have vids up by the big of next year been in the garage for 20 years. :)
@lunaod1 There were a whole bunch of cars from mid-to-late 70s that were fugly as hell. I give the award for fugliest to the '77 Ford Pinto "Cruising Wagon" (the one with the round porthole windows).
Best of luck with the '76 Free Spirit restoration.
nice those are very hard to find it has the rear window of a 70 cadillac and the side windows of a 74 chevelle cool car man did you start to restore it?
WOW man, Kinda stunned here, I am in Ohio, been many years back, someone I knew had one of those, you always saw that car around town, none other like it, but you could tell when it was traded off, saw it on a car lot 3 different times! But best of luck to you man!
Awesome rare car! Good luck with the resto and keep posting updates. My mom had a '73 buick Gran Sport 455 stage 1 back in '76! What a great fast car! I'm restoring a '73 Chevelle SS454 w/ 4-speed. Tough to find parts for these cars!
Nice Vid! Good luck on your restoration. I was at Indy that year. That Turbo V-6 sounded great! Different, but great. Too bad the replicas don't have the turbo version. It was too early in R&D for that.

The 1976 was had the turbocharged V6, not the 1975. And it was also silver, orange and black, not red, white and blue. Completely different car.

You're right. I stand corrected. Good luck!
