@ObsedatDeMasini The Audi Allroad (A6) has 4-level air suspension feed by an air compressor. Highest level 4 works up to 40 km/h. Level 3 works between 40 to 80 km/h. Level 2 works between 80 and about 140 km/h. Lowest level 1 is for motorways only. Then when you slow down to about 40 km/h it rises to level 2.
I only watched the first couple minutes, got board and stopped it. Do they ever drive in more than a couple inches of snow? It makes me sick that they call it a "Scout"! International Scouts are awesome. This car doesn't deserve the name.
The Scout is capable of much more than what is shown on this video. In a muddy field car park it easily sails past stuck audi allroads and other "Off Road Cars".
I'm sure it does great on a flat muddy field. If a Four Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive car got stuck in a muddy field my guess is that the tires or driver were to blame. My Scout, built in America by International, is more capable then this car could ever be.
the skoda is very similar to the allroad. it has the same AWD system, it has the same traction control system and the same chassis. this is because volkswagen own skoda, and audi is partnered with VW, so they use alot of the same components. the only differences that the skoda has to the allroad, is the height adjustable suspension, the engine, and the interior materials.
VW/Audi own skoda. they use alot of the same components. for example, both the petrol and diesel engines are VW/Audi (the 1.8t from cars such as the TT, A4, Passat, etc etc), and the 1.9TDI from the A4, Passat, A3, and others. also, the AWD system used is a quattro system from audi.
it has a golf platform....octavia 2 has a golf 5 platform.....the new passat has a golf 5 platform.....the touran has a golf 5 platform...the audi a3 has a golf 5 platform....the jetta has a golf 5 platform.....don't even compare it with a audi a4 platform it's not the same....even the b5 and b6 have better platforms than the new octavia because audi is a luxury car and skoda is a cheap car.
man...when 2 or more car models share the same platform this means that they share the same engines, the same gearboxes, the same suspension (with modifications depending on the model), same underpinnings, same traction sistem .........so this means they share the same technical solutions.....
Audi TT and Audi A3 have a haldex differential (even on the TT-S, TT-RS, S3) altough the system is called quattro. That's because they share the same platform with vw touran, golf 5, eos, passat, skoda octavia and octavia scout. All the other Audi models (A4, A5, A6, A8, Q5, Q7, S4, S5, S6, S8, RS4, RS6) use a Torsen-based Quattro system.
@felix911turbo Passat doesn't share the Golf platform with Skoda and others: it's on the same B5/6, like Allroad in this test. I must admit, due to Golf platform Scout has smaller weight and shorter wheelbase, hence better geometrical abilities. Probably better tyres. Moreover, that Alload doesn't match Torsen gereration against Haldex 4.0 in Scout. So test itself doesn't look too correct. But I like Scout - great value money can buy. Or full-frame 4x4 instead of A6 Allroad for the same price.
The actual passat(B6) has nothing in common with the Audi B6 platform or other longitudinal-engined Audi sedan platform. It shares platform with octavia, golf, jetta, a3, tt, leon, toledo, touran and superb. The older passat (B5, B5.5) shares platform with the Audi A4 B5, and has the same 4wd system as the Audi, using Torsen. The Scout in the video has haldex, used in VW group's normal vehicles(Skoda, VW). Even if it's an older generation, Torsen is in a superior class(Audi).
Is not the same AWD, Skoda use swedish Haldex and Audi There own quattro with torsen diff, permanent awd. Haldex is fwd and deliver power back when it´s needed
permanant awd doesnt exist. the concept of AWD is that power is relayed to the wheels with most traction. skoda is owned by the VW/Audi group, and so skoda is supplied with components from the V/A group.
But still not the same AWD, Skoda still use swedish Haldex doesent mather how much audi and vw group own skoda, is not even close to same system. Permanant may not exist, depends on who you ask maybe, but both Subaru and Audi says that they got permanent AWD, Skoda doesent, cause they use another type of AWD...
The Haldex system can deliver up to around 80% of the power to one wheel depending on which wheel/wheels have most traction. Though on a dry road, about 90% of the power is to the front wheels (depending on traction available). The AWD system subaru uses, gives around 25% for each wheel normally (on a dry road for example), but can relay up to 60% of its power to any wheel depending on traction.
no. its the fact that allroad 3.0 tdi quatro is dream of every guy. that's why so many people says that. if you could afford allroad - you would have it. that's it. end of story. and allroad is better for "light offroad".
Lovely mountain scenery in this video.
The Balkans somewhere?

The Scout is a lighter car than the Allroad, I have an Allroad 2.7T and it's heavy, and heavy on petrol too.
I'm selling my Allroad and getting the Scout TDi in Pacific Blue as a company car. Just as much fun as an Allroad with less fuel punishment.

As in our family we own both a 2007 scout and a 2005 wrx sti, i 'll make this clear:
the scout is fwd, and when it's needed (ie when front wheels lose traction), it can do up to 50:50 to the rear wheels.
the wrx sti, no matter what's happening, all wheels are moving.

ever thought of changing using the dial in near the e-brake to switch the power from front to rear?
