While I prefer hearing Segovia or Williams play this song, there is one thing Tom is doing that you can't deny. He is taking classical guitar playing (albeit a sort of sloppy and visually spiced up version of it) and putting it on popular television. If at least one person came out of watching that and said 'wow, I want to learn classic guitar" then he has already done an immeasurable amount of good for the style.

Amazing technique! Amazing musicality! For all those who think this is Asturias your idiots. Isaac Albéniz used the same traditional melody Tom plays in Asturias. This melody has been used by flamenco guitarists and even the Doors. Tom has a recording of the Albéniz Asturias when he was 16 years old on YT as well just search it. For the jealous haters here go practice until you can play one 10th as well as Tom then you might get a GF and not need to sit on YT trolling!

@billytheguitar He was 18 when he released Tasmanian Sunrise (the CD with Asturias on it).Um...this is Asturias.The piece is called Asturias and was written by Albeniz.Tom is just doing a variation on the theme from that piece.I want an example of the melody of Asturias before Albeniz.He wrote the piece in 1892 so it is fair to say that the doors probably heard it from the original piano piece.Is there a need to attack people and assume everyone who has an opinion is a troll?

Its basic flamenco track is an established form of flamenco music known as Granadinas. The beginning riff was taken from Asturias (Leyenda), a classical piece of music by a Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909). It also borrows a similar sounding riff from Malagueña.

Fantastic! for anyone comparing this to Asturias you need to know that AGT gives you two minutes to perform and the Albinez version of this melody is about six minutes long. If you want to hear tom play the original just type it into you tube, tom ward asturias, it's on his first CD when he was sixteen years old.

I will admit he is very very very talented, but you have to know ordinary people only go wow when they see something played fast.
