I like this ride. it's one of those boring classic "control the up and down motions" rides, but with a good theme and raised 20 or 30 feet in the air.
I agree about discounting this ride as a Dumbo style ride. I have been to WDW many times, but never went on this until my last trip. My preschool age kids and hubby LOVED it- but those final handful of spins where it really speeds up did a number on my head and tummy. It is a pretty cool up there. Great video!
The1998 tommorrowland renovation in disneyland is joke is a disgrace compaired to the old tommorrowland from 1977-1997. I live in Southern Ca i am very pleased with your tommorrowland in florida but here disneyland took a wrong space flight.
LOL, it's funny reading the comments about the storm clouds, I didn't even notice them, I had to rewatch it to see what people were talking about. I suppose it's because I'm from central florida, you just get so used to seeing weather like that around here that it seemed normal.
Anyway, I went to disney last week for night of joy but didn't have time for this ride. Seeing this brought back memories of riding this with my grandfather. Thanks for posting.
they moved this ride to the ground. U no longer take a elevator to get on the ride. That really runed the ride.I can remember when I was a kid & u were so high up.Now its infront of tommorow land on the ground. They really runed this ride Why cant they just leave things the way they were? And why did they take out the peoplemovers.Theres one in Disney world.
@DTrigger05 Thank you for shooting this video! Would you say the ride is about the same as the dumbo ride but faster? From the ground of Tomorrow Land. It looks faster because it's so high up. So I never bothered to go up. It does seem fun from your video. Thanks again! Johnny
@JohnnyBGood103170 HI, I worked there and we can say it is the same as the dumbo ride but faster. It's pretty cool specialy at night and one time I had guests riding it during the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party fireworks which takes place in 5 different parts of Magic Kingdom. People loved it.
the people movers got taken out because somebody fell out and broke a few bones and then another person fell out and died and because the families were suing for it disney was able to convince the families to settle by agreeing to remove the people mover for good...so because somebodys water head relatives couldnt follow rules which resulted in a lawsuit (how american), a ride that everyone loved is gone...
Ahhh the people mover...... such a simple ride yet so awesome! it's always busy here at WDW. I couldn't believe it when i heard you guys in california had it removed.
@mjmmorales I no its in the Magic kingdom ,Disney world I was refuring to disneyland in California. They but it on the ground and took out the people movers.
@mjmmorales That's what happened at Disneyland. Walt Disney World's is still on a platform but got a makeover along with the rest of Tomorrowland in 1994 while Disneyland's was changed in 1998.
The Astro Orbiter is okay as a ride, but I really love to look at it because its aesthetic design is so imaginative and colorful.
I'd keep the Astro Orbiter around just for its appearance because it makes Tomorrowland more appealing, but I'd make a second Astro Orbiter that sits inside of a planetarium (a large dome that has the stars projected onto the interior walls). Now THAT would make it a great ride!
When my daughter (15) was a little girlie (about 2) we asked her what was the last ride she wanted to go on for the night, she said the red spinny on top! You know we still call it that! Love the view! Thanks for posting!
Great video, thanks for posting it. I remember when this ride had the NASA Saturn V rocket on the center tower and all the smaller surounding ships has a similar design.
I'm 16 and i just rode this for my first time on thanksgiving day of last year (2008) and i had a perfect view of the Castle at night. this was the perfect end to an amazing trip. Good Video.
i've always known this ride was there, but i don't think i've ever been on it, though my family claims i have...i think they went on it when i was little and i didnt go...
Yeah, it's fun - much more so than it's counterpart at Disneyland in California as it's still on top of the TTA station. However - I wouldn't wait very long. Maybe two cycles on the elevator at most.
I never rode this ride because I never new what it was. Now that I've seen this video I will ride it in Nov. when we go to WDW. Thank you for sharing the video.

I thought it would just be some dumb kiddie ride. But when I got on it went so high up and really fast haha. I felt like I was gonna fly off.

this ride is like a more epic version of dumbo.

My first time riding this was in 08 when I was 12.
This was WONDERFUL! It felt like we were tilting SO far out of the ride.
I thought it was gonna be just like Dumbo actually.
Haha. I loved it!
