A little blood when cutting is normal. The network of blood vessels that exchanges oxygen between the embryo and the outside world adheres to all of the areas of the egg that are exposed to air. So if a few get nicked, there is plenty more to do the job. Cutting a huge slit in the egg would be dangerous to the embryo. Its important to be careful and keep cuts small enough to just take a peek.

If you do it the way brian does it, no.....
If some stupid hippy with no experience does it, it might go wrong.....only cut eggs if your a pro, or you have a pro around you so you dont mess up.
