Literally the only Versus telecast I have ever enjoyed. Martinez was such an excellent addition to the boxing spotlight. I was very impressed by this performance, and it was easily his worst American television appearance.
Was anyone else just awestruck when he wrecked Alex Bunema on HBO?
@DWiens421 i was rooting for bunema, had a good run with the karmazin ko and the matthyse stoppage as well. but the way martniez dismantled him was really impressive.. like really impressive. still had doubt about him trying to do the same stuff to pavlik but did fantastic work.
(im from britain) he was already established in europe quite a bit, saw him a few times thought he was very classy but not a true 'world beater'.
@BorrieBeats I've gone back and watched some of his older stuff from his fights in Europe, and he really didn't look all that impressive. Even as recently as his fight against Cintron, he didn't look like he was going to take over the middle divisions, but... the run of Pavlik, Williams and Dzinziruk is wildly impressive to me. He doesn't get nearly enough credit for beating Dzinziruk, who is a lot better than almost any American makes him out to be.
