  • i heard of this guy courtesy of terry burrows, interesting stuff

  • Is that a cat he's trying to saw in half?

  • It is so hard to know why realy good players like him change the music and after the time, years, playing experimental sounds.

  • This is so great. Thanks.

  • I find it interesting that the arguments about this sound noise music stuff (whatever you want to label it) never talk about the freedom to just do what you want. If you don't find this video inspiring , watch something else. Why feel the need to knock it? Fred Frith is a wonder and the sound he makes is always provocative, creative, and worth hearing. Maybe you just don't like improvised noise music sound whatever this is.

  • sounds very good

  • I saw this guy with John Zorn and Mike Patton. It was great.

  • Impresionante, gracias por compartir tu video. Debo decir que salí con la sangre helada tras ver a Frith, una experiencia total.

  • cave82, You might want to pick up the new "Britney" album, ...probably be more your speed.

  • lots of cows being slaughtered with a violin bow.

  • Well i know Fred Frith from the lp "The Frank Johnson's favorites" with the song loser = weed .... he's ok.. :)

  • He creates an awsome musical atmosphere..

    Henry Cow ftw!

  • nice use of the dl4...love this man since henry cow. respect.

  • hey, i know him! :)

  • vino y ni lo vi...

  • Seriously, non-believers, pick up Massacre's Killing Time and you'll "get it."

  • Easy to do... you're a retard if you think you or most anyone else could do this. Its not supposed to have a catchy melody, thats why its called dissonance... Its improv, and you clearly are the deaf one if you cant retain anything interesting from this... Its beautiful, just open oyur ears and pay attention before you criticize. Its called creativity. If you dont like it, go listen to whatever you think is "good"

  • The audience must have been on heavy drugs for that sort of applause. This astonishes me. Why is he even using a guitar? He could mic up his pedals to an empty wine bottle and make cooler sounds. Are you people deaf? Have you no taste for melody anymore? This is a swindle... not to mention incredibly easy to do...

  • if you want melody, there's still plenty of music on this planet.. (not to mention: have you tried it?)

  • maybe before posting about music you have absolutely no reference for you should research the fellow instead of posting reactionary fodder. mr frith has a consumate understanding of melody and is also a celebrated composer. hes choosing to do these things for a reason. and this is NOT easy to do.

  • do you know fred frith? read some music history books and pay atention

  • This is great. I love and admire his work very much. Swindle??? how dáre you say that. First of all i advise to research his work. He also has made very beautiful melodieus pieces too. And i love this dissonant, noisy pieces as much. He is a genius.

  • I have been in one of his concerts and the best concerts i have ever been on, ive seen, metallica, kiss, kraftwerk, aerosmith, and many more

  • awsome

  • fred frith a genius!master of experiment

  • genious.

  • awsome..

  • i love you fred frith!

    come to chile now

  • Hey, that's not "Dazed and Confused"!

  • Are You?; sounds like you are....

  • The point is, among other purposes, to try and find new sounds ... "noises", as you put it, being sounds like notes are. And people have been playing notes for centuries ... so I guess it's OK to try and find new ways of playing.

  • what's the point of making noises with a guitar?

  • listen to some mars volta and youll under stand

  • ?????

  • Making noises with a guitar is fun and sounds cool.

  • The point is to find new ways of expression. These times demand new ways of expression, you can't have the same forms with nuclear weapons lying around..

  • Isn't Professor Frith repeating himself? I know his stuff from the very beginning and I would rather recommend his early song-format projects along with his bands. Other people would bring more danger/interest into his usual sound rituals. IMHO his solo is still strong but he does need some fresh ideas to feed on.

  • wish i could get to see him live. any chance of this being available to download somewhere.

  • Increíble Fred Frith!!!

  • Are you kidding me?...819 people have seen this and have not commented on the great Fred Frith..are you so stunned that you can't speak? No one goes more out on a limb than Fred Frith?

  • I'm commenting, ok? Sheesh. Yes, this is fabulous. I wish I was there. Instead, I saw him/Cultler/Hugh Hopper a few months ago at the Stone/NYC and was quite disappointed. They never caught fire, were too polite, and there was little communication beyond polite "you first, no, you first!" Hopper's not much of an improviser. Apparently, the 10pm Frith/Cutler show was stupendous and is available as a Stone benefit CD.

  • Fred Frith is truly astounding. Not everyone can understand the avany-gaurd appeal frrom the Henry Cow legacy musicians. Those of us that like it REALLY like it@!!
