I remember reading that Michael Pedicin knew Mike Brecker well back in Philly. The story related that Pedicin had a bag full of otto link mpcs he got from a music store that closed down and he and Mike went through them and Mike picked out a couple. I recall the article ran down Pedicin's career which included some time with Dave Bruebeck; Pedicin had more hair then. I think his set up was 8* florida link with a Med. Soft La Voz reed.
Is the Mike Pedicin from Philly? He was a monster way back in the 60's when we all competed at all the National Jazz Festivals: St. Louis, Quinnipiac College, Elmhust. Boy, those were fun days!! I believe Mike played for the Philadelphia Music Academy and competed with us, the Kent State Lab band. Great playing, but then, it always was! Thanks, Mike. Romes.
WOW what a huge sound. Never heard of him before. Thanks for the post, I can see myself stuck to the computer for many hours listening to all these clips.
thanks a lot! definitely interesting player and a great band too. As always the quality of your videos is stunning-it almost sounds like a studio recording ;)
@chriss1152 Not in Chicago. I was at the Green Mill last night - one of the best jazz clubs in the country - and it was packed. The band was a great local band and the audience loved it, including all the beautiful women who were there. Green Mill even makes the morons who come to talk keep their traps shut during the sets because most people are there to listen to the music.
I don't know this tenor player ( I hear some influence of Bracker ) but I think he will be a true star: Also the other musicians play very well !
A lot of thanks
