The best business during severe economic collapse is funeral services, my mother got lucky working as an accountant in the 1990s in one such company, the business swelled and we lived like kings compared to rest 95% of society...
Capitalism is great but the draw back is greed. The biggest offenders in America is the government! We don't want a bigger government. If America falls everyone falls with it!
I lived in Russia for a short time in the winter of 1998. The people were wonderful, generous and kind. The collapse of the ruble was still felt then, but there was little complaining. I was amazed at their honesty when I bought some things for my wife and the store owner said a baroque I picked out did not match the necklace-thus taking money out of her pocket. I bought it anyway.
I am retired military, Nam and Cold War. Evil lies in power and greed, not people.
Don't use 1990th. That's for ratios only. If you want to say, "around the decade of 1990," you use "in the 1990s". As in:
In the 1,990th minute of the race, the second place team overtook the first place team."
or
"In the 1990s, the Republican Congress destroyed all barriers keeping financial institutions from creating another depression, this ensuring today's disaster."
The US business model has destroyed the economy. People with bad credit can't get jobs- the people who need jobs the most can't maintain income.
Unfortunately, the USA isn't Russia. We're more materialistic. If the economy collapses here, we'll turn straight into crime and murder. The most violent and ruthless will become powerful by killing and taking whatever they want.
The value of the second amendment is made evident in Serguei's description of his experience. People in the U.S. often only point out the price of our constitutional liberties but they completely neglect the price we'd pay if we didn't have them. Do you remember the gas chambers? What do you think would be more likely to prevent a future holocost, the belief that moral fiber has strengthened since then or the second amendment? Anti-gunners only see only part of the picture.
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I could listen to you for hours... So please don't pay attention to the rude remarks -- make more videos like this one!
It sucked. My grandparents collected money all their life, and than it amounted to nothing because of inflation. than i moved.. and some family friends have business positions, they were attacked and in jail even, and they get attacked even now. they must (financially)support political parties. corruption there is phenomenal. everybody who can should move, it sucks but its true. (I'm referring to Ukraine tho not Russia)
Well, at least you made it through the video. That's actually the problem - most people don't have patience for anything, even if it's for their own good.
if you have nothing important to say then just dont say it. he is obviously way smarter then you will ever be. so stop trying to put him down to try and make you feel better for yourself.
LOL. Very funny. My beef with this russian guy is that he is very analytical and he takes ten minutes to make a point. Have you tried to watch his original video? I dare yo to watch it, you will not finish. After 5 minutes of "let us analyze cash loop" you will run from the room screaming.
Also the US now is not like the soviet union. In a few months when the economy picks up I will have told you so...
Ok, biggori. I'm marking my calendar, and in a few months, I'll check to see if the economy has picked up. Apparently, you prefer the "sound bite" version of reality, to actual, factual, information. I agree, it won't "go down" here exactly like it did in Russia, but it will go down. Mark your calendar as well! I would love to be proven wrong.
I watched the whole video and thought it was very interesting. Obviously you have the attention span of a flea. Typical American arrogance thinking that the US will bounce back from this. The US is done, your empire is over. Your government relies almost entirely on foreign money for it's budget. How long will China keep loaning money that they must know they will never get back?
Very funny. OK Ihope you all have had enough bashing me now.
As for trevor... 1) what you call arrogance I call confidence and hopefullness. And what you display, I call that Jealousy and hatred...
2) Perhaps you do not understand a sense of humor. For that, I feel very sorry for you.
I defy you to find any other Empire, in the history of planet earth, that was more benign and good for the world as the USA. OK nobodys perfect, do you think China would make a better superpower?
jealous of what? I'm doing just fine up here in Canada. At least our banks our solvent. If you were being funny, then sorry I missed that, sarcasm doesn't translate well with posts. I'll admit that compared to the Huns or Romans America hasn't been that bad, but the US has overthrown many socialist democracies in the name of fighting communism. Latin America and Iran come to mind.
That had nothing to do with benevolence and was often driven by corporate interests. The blowback in Iran
I agree that out of the lot of empires in history America has been the most tolerable, but it's the attitude that America only has the best interests of the world at heart and is pure as the driven snow that irks me. A little more honesty would be appreciated. Even the brutal Romans were missed when their empire fell because of the Pax Romana.
All empires are inherently evil. Certainly the US can claim being the evilest, but the competition is harsh. The US has kept the entire continent of South America impoverished for over 100 years. Killed 2 million in Vietnam, overthrew more than 20 democratic leaders, killed 1 million more in Iraq, the list is long and the space is limited. Go to my forum. I delineate it better there.
As has been pointed out elsewhere, the Russian people were better equipped, in some ways, to deal with hardship, due to historical and recent conditions. As this video points out, practically all US citizens, and many in other countries, as well, simply don't see this coming. They will have a MUCH harder time adapting to the loss of a lifestyle to which the are not only accustomed, but to which they feel entitled.
It's fascinating to me that the biggest problem was the psychological one. This may sound simplistic, but the fact that we have free speech here, and we have our own firearms, is going to be good for our psyches when things really get bad. In other words, we'll feel more impowered than the Russians felt and I think this will be an advantage.
I must confess, I'm looking forward to the crash! But I'm fortunate enough to be well prepared.
I don't think having firearms is going to make things better. I would imagine that it will escalate the violence. I am getting myslef ready too. I live in the UK, where thankfully there are not so many firearms.
The people having firearms, and knowing how to use them, will unquestionably curtail crime when the crisis gets really bad. This is because most people will use guns to protect themselves not instigate crime. As a woman, I can't even imagine not having a gun to protect myself against the criminals that will wish to prey on women and the elderly during hard times.
I sympathize with your case and appreciate that you need the means to defend yourself. After hearing vorojtsov's comments about the survival energy kicking in and the general moral decay and violence. Not just from criminals now. I'm not against people owning a weapon to defend themselves, just that the violence will be greater with firearms. If we all had nuclear weapons and morality decayed the violence would be literally astronomical.
When the U.S. was the only country that had nuclear weapons nuclear weapons were detonated in wartime. Once other countries had nuclear weapons then all wartime use of them stopped. It is complicated. Nuclear weapons ended up being a deterent in reality. Firearms serve much of the same purpose.
Firearms without question are a deterent for crime and corruption. The second amendment comes with a price and the price is what makes some uncomfortable. Corrupt governments especially don't want citizens having firearms. How else could Stalin have killed the 20 or so million people that he did. God forbid the people have firearms. They would have prevented the worst genicide in history. Open your mind to the truth. Civlilians have about 250 million guns here. How far would Stalin get?
Serguei, I think your change in direction from mathematical/chess problems to economic problems, family problems and psychological problems was very well timed. I am thankful for these videos and you sharing your personal experience. I am re-reading Viktor Frankl's - Man's Search for meaning nowadays :)
I agree with you, the battle is going to be more psychological than financial..
In my experience at least (not speaking for anyone else), the "job identity" thing is mostly because my reasoning is my parents spent a LOT of money to put me through college, and I would hate to have all those years of my life, and all of their money, been spent in vain by working a job not related at all to what I studied.
Also I know former coworkers getting certification in things they're already highly adept in, because company hiring managers are being much pickier than usual these days.
Thank you for your willingness to spread your wisdom.
I think half the problem with this world is that people of integrity and wisdom typically do not have power as they by nature do not wish to dominate others, whereas those that wish to deceive and use the population for their own ends are successful in fooling the apathetic population and are rewarded with cushy government offices.

in 3 years $1 was 7 thousand roubles so they sold it for 15 cents
