Prices rise because the value (purchasing power) of the fiat currency decreases. As more paper money is created, that destroys the value of all other currency in circulation. The definition of inflation is an increase in the money supply and/or credit. I will send you a great video that helps explain the history of money. It is important to understand this as this is a very near problem we will all be facing.
