I've personally ridden in a 540 hp NA 383 LS1 Corvette that got well over 20mpg. Hell, a STOCK LS1 Corvette gets mid 20's. it´s almost the same engine like it was in the mclaren f1 GT1-car. but it is the evolution of it. so you could buy a mclaren f1 and you´ve got the engine. the bmw v12 in the 760i is the same but it´s calmer and more civilized, today it has directinjection and some other fuel-saving stuff. but the original engine was created by paul roche (i think) and it was the first v12 in a bmw after the WWII in the 7 series in the late 80´s
