  • Wow. Glad I went to Utah State.

  • hey its a scam, those dudes protesting are the same ones that hold up their signs at General Conference their PLASTIC!!!

  • ummm...there is a middle ground between harsh language and torturing.

  • hey 420 you must like Alex Jones :)

    and to everyone else

Just so I get my two cents worth is my last straw with the LDS CHurch is this DICK Cheney thing

Dick Cheney represents Illegal War, Killing innocents then profiteering of it. Dick Cheney is anti american .ANd If you think He cares about religion you need to get your head checked

  • hey, the LDS church has nothing to do with politics. look at the protest.

  • ummm then why did they chose a politician to speak? especially one with a 20% approval rating

stop being a sheep and think for yourself

  • You know the Republicans are in trouble when students at BYU protest one of the leaders of that party. BYU is not a center of liberalism like UC Berkeley. Well this White House has made their bed and it's time to sleep in it. The LDS church claims no political slant but since they fund BYU and had this rediculous "protest" area and then even edit what the protesters can say well so much for "free speech" and "non-partisan" from the university and the church.

  • Hey did the campus republicans have any volunteers for the marine corps or army infantry there? If people are SOOO supportive of the VP and his policies then they should put their money where the mouth is and enlist! Otherwise they should shut their mouths.

  • No, never claimed she was coming to BYU - only pointing out the gross hypocrisy which is so prevalent on the Left in this country! That is why I laugh when they make unsubstiantive accusations of "unethical" behavior - the Left, and the DNC in particular, are the most unprincipled lot - William Jefferson....Nancy Pelosi...now Dianne Feinstein! They're all crooks.

  • Since this idiotic BYU student is so concerned about alleged unethics, where is the protest of Sen. Dianne Feinstein who headed the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, oversaw $1.5 Billion that went to her husband's companies URS of San Francisco and the Perini Corporation of Framingham, Mass. If this weren't enough, she left her subcomittee at the same time her husband sold his stake in both companies.

Wow if you want to talk about unethical!

  • Dianne Feinstein really isn't coming to talk at BYU though.

  • If the students weren't happy with the VP coming to talk at their ceremony, then why even walk or graduate? Transfer somewhere else... Crazies. I wonder if any of them were thinking "What would Jesus do?" or "Love one another" Cheney wasn't going there to make a political statement or anything. He's still a child of God.

  • Provo Homos

  • are the values of BYU protecting terrorists? Why do you oppose water-boarding? Do you know what terrorists to to American captives?

  • because it doesn't work. torture has never worked.

do you really think an actual terrorist who already is seeking death and martyrdom is going to give it all up because... what? he's now afraid to die?

    moron.

  • Actually torture does work, if used under the right circumstances in the right way. A terrorists idea of martyrdom is not being tortured in a secluded cell, and that is why they will give up important information when tortured. Were talking about water boarding here too, nothing extreme. Would you refuse to water board a terrorist who had a bomb tied to your mother?

  • p.s. being tortured has nothing to do with being afraid to die....but by your immature name calling, I wouldn't expect you to be intelligent enough to comprehend that....

  • Just glad to be a Utah alum. BYU should be ashamed of themselves for letting Cheney speak.

  • 9 out of 10 BYU protesters are completely oblivious to any real facts concerning Cheney, and the rest of them are just seeking attention and reinforcing the "naive BYU student" stereotype.

  • Very well done, Eric. Thanks.

  • What a moron. As a BYU-grad, I am embarrassed. First, Cheney resigned from Halliburton (including stock-options) before joining the white house precisely to avoid such accusations of ethics. Second, terrorists - or those who purposefully seek out civilians and fail to wear uniforms - ARE NOT protected under the Geneva Conventions. That poor BYU Democrat needs to do some more reading!

Embarrassing to see twits like this represent BYU.

  • wow. there wasn't even an attempt to present a balanced documentary. nice try, though.

  • What didn't you find balanced about it? Examples would be nice.

  • Little do they know but these BYU Dems are playing an integrate part in God's plan. The more whussy anti-Bush/conservatives we can muster the sooner the troops are "de-funded" and returned home. With no support those who are inclined will be able to wreck havoc and nuke us all, APOCALYPSE BABY!

I'm excited about the apocalypse; I can't wait to see God again. In fact I know with my temple marriage I myself can become a God. I'll be an awesome God I'll be all cool and chill.

  • Last thing I remember, you guys claimed Bush/Cheney were spreading this same "freedom" to other parts of the world. If you yourself cant tolerate something as little as a protest in the name of "freedom", how dare you wage a war on a country (costing it thousands of innocent lives) in the name of affording them the same "freedom" ?

  • Dissent does not give you the right to ask us to leave, even as a citizen, the American constitution gives all people a right to free speech & thought on American soil.

  • I am graduating along with my husband this year and am utterly disgusted by the choice of the speaker. I am so glad that there's an alternate commencement. We were amongst the protesters and are proud to show that we have dissenting views and can and will express them.

Before any of you so-called "Pro-BYU/Dick Cheney/Republicans" accuse me of not following the authority, let me clarify that I am neither Mormon nor American (just a permanent resident).

  • If bush-boy is the worst president ever, then is cheney the worst veep ever? I'd have to concur, and god bless BYU students. Keep speaking your minds about this corrupt administration!

  • BYU is full of a lot of dorks. He's the VP of the country. What's the alternative to him speaking? A local boy scout leader?

  • Ralph Nader is coming down to speak as an alternative at an independent venue not sponsored by BYU.

  • And Ralph Nader definitely promotes the values of BYU much more than Dick Cheney does...

  • Great video! I feel its a documentary in its true sense in that it attempts to show an unbiased view. Few comments on the issue: NO ivy league school WOULD consider Cheney just like BYU would never consider a moderate-left wing speaker

  • It saddens me that there are actually those students protesting Cheney coming to our campus. Aren't decisions made at BYU based on careful consideration and diligent prayer..?

And what's with girls on campus? It's as if they're more concerned about cell phones and how far they can stretch those undershirt things over their jeans than they are about education and more importantly, their salvation...?

  • What a bunch of freakin retards, me being a mormon my self, disown them

  • There is always going to be a body of people that are unhappy. And it is ok to judge someone. It is not ok to state it as fact. You are more than welcome to have an opinion of someone, you should not tell everyone that is how it is. Unless you know WAY more than the average person then you don't don't know anything.

  • As an outsider that has been following the whole thing, it is really entertaining. If you don't allow him to come then to maintain balance you should never allow any political figure to come again. If you pick a Democrate then the Repubs, will be unhappy and visa versa.

  • As you can see protests are not common, but there was one on campus just last year.

  • Actually, BYU does allow some protests on campus. The anti-Cheney protest was approved by the administration.

And I fail to see how we should feel honored to have someone speak at our universe purely because they occupy a high-ranking office. Power and authority aren't indicators of integrity, compassion, or morality.

  • The whole thing at BYU hilarious. I use to be at BYU, it is a great school, but it isn't for everyone. I do think having Chaney is an awesome opportunity. How many times do we get hear a high ranking official, for most-never. I didn't like or agree with Clinton but if BYU had invited Gore to speak I would have thought it was a great opportunity. It is true that BYU doesn't allow protests on campus, but if you want to exercise your free speech there are ways to still do it. Thanks for the video.

  • Actually, the anti-Cheney protest was approved by the BYU administration. Some protests are allowed on campus.

And can someone please explain to my why I should be honored to have someone speak at my university simply because they occupy a high-ranking office? Power and authority aren't good indicators of integrity, compassion, or morality.

  • I never said these people were bad people, you extrapolated that out of my comment. I've done more of an attempt than most to understand the issue at hand, and if someone after considering the issue thinks different than you do, this is not "rhetoric" so, I'd Thank You to not make personal attacks on me and try to understand the other side of the issue. To assume that someone after thinking for themselves couldn't come to my conclusion is extremely closed minded.

  • you've made just as many judgments and assumptions as I have if not more.

  • please don't be so quick to judge those that choose to think for themselves. no one protesting hates byu, the governing body, the church etc. we respect that cheney--including his policies--is a direct personification of your personal and/or socially-adopted views, but do not attempt to demonize good people who maintain different opinions than yourself. fwt.

  • BYU is a private university; if these students have issues with its governing bodies, leave the university or boycott the commencement. This seems logical, they are not obligated to be here and there are others who would gladly take their place. Yet, these people continue to attend BYU, showing that the true issue is with cheap tuition, or whatever reasons they have for staying, and not with hatred of the governing bodies, or whatever the protest is this week.

  • 'how can you JUDGEsomeone, and attempt to demonize goodpeople who maintain different views than your own?what's clearly'logical'--given your comment--is that1)you r a byu student,2)you have made absolutely no efforts to understand the issues(political or otherwise),and3)your rhetoric--such as'leave,''these people,'and'hatred'--is congruent with those who attempt to ignorantly represent their socially-adopted opinions, having no regard/respect for the issue at hand, nor for anyone but themselves.

  • Voicing your dissenting opinion about the politics and/or ethics of a political leader automatically make you a pseudo-liberal? People really need to stop this rhetoric.

  • wow...Even at BYU you can't get away from pseudo-liberals.

  • yup, just like them minorities. We'll find our way in to your campus one way or another.

  • Great video of the BYU students and their views of Dick Cheney's crap! TY Much...

  • No problem!
