  • i used this monologue for class project

  • Even though Ethan Hawke does the right thing in this movie and in Training Day, I find myself rooting for the bad guy.

  • Congratulations, USA is about to supply MASSIVE amount of arms to Syrian rebel, some of them are pure sadistic animals. Way to go Obama....we love you.

  • Two words: Hannibal Lecture.

  • Screw the ATF they are a good for nothing tax waisting organization.

  • I'm renting it... NOW.

  • great scene till he made the "I'm nick cage and this is me acting" face @ 3:21 - 3:27

  • Though most of the movie was based on Bout & a little on Cummings, this bit was all Terpil

  • did this film make anybody else want to become an arms dealer?

  • @Joustan Yes

  • @Joustan LOL You only live once. If that's what you want to do, then have at it! :D

  • @Joustan me.

  • @Joustan oh yea baby

  • I miss Nicholas Cage, the actor.

  • lol Pwnd! Nicolas Cage made him cry.

  • I would be so hard to pass on those two chicks... LORD, have mercy.

    This movie is fuckin epic.

  • @Hatinonthehaters Love that scene...

Girls: "How can we make you happy?"

    Cage: (hesitates) "By leaving."

  • so fucking sadly truthful

  • I love Ethan Hawks line, super powerful

  • I felt bad for ethan hawke in this... the good guys lose... and not because it's cool.

    Depressing film about survival.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that starts at 3:39 ?

  • @IxIZODIACIxI Never mind, I found the song name myself.

In case anyone else is wondering, it is Warlord by Antonio Pinto

  • This is so true - no insurgency can survive without the supply of money and arms from a foreign government. If governments stopped sponsoring 'terrorists' we'd have a lot fewer bloodbaths.

  • @N17C1 and unfortunately that only happens when money loses its worth. I can't even begin to explain how unlikely that is.

  • @N17C1 Yay!!!! wait what the fuck are we arguing against?

  • great scene in a great movie

  • I noticed with Nicolas Cage movies, he's a hit or a miss. This movie, EXCEPTIONAL.

'ghost riders'.....lets not talk about that.

  • "CAN YOU BRING ME THE GUN OF RAMBO ? " lol.

  • Remember the scene before the final arms deal? When the militia thugs are about to hack the villagers up with machetes? THAT's the problem. The guns aren't the problem, it's the tragic hatred that makes the world he fucked up place that it is.

  • Ya know, I agree, it is an underrated film. It's a little Hollywood, but a WHOLE LOT'A CAGE.

  • such a good scene

  • When someone asks me what's Lord of War about it,or whether it's good,I just say "Watch is,and you'll realise why world peace is not possible".

Blew my mind when I saw it.And blows it again every time I do,actually.

  • PWNED!

  • I didn't know they took American currency in the middle east! You learn something new everyday... LOL

  • @coryboy345 They actually do. A lot of countries do.

  • @coryboy345 Well now you do know and it is the reality not a movie mistake as you think. Some middle east countrys also take euros.

  • @coryboy345 .......LOOOOOOOOOOL

I'm dying :..) OMG I'm crying its so funny thanks man....fucking somebody like this comment and let's all laugh

  • Nic Cage!!! i cant wait to see this movie, it looks really cool. I just saw his new movie "Trespass" and he was amazing in it. he is probably one of my top 5 actors. He really knows what hes doing and how to submerge himself fully into a character. bitly. com/o7TwhG

  • I busted out laughing this whole movie. Everyone in the theater was quiet.

  • @SpartanCXVII which state do you live in? i guess UtahXD

  • @brightkkman California.

  • @SpartanCXVII They should but-slap people that are not quiet in theaters

  • @fmagic2306 Really? You're not allowed to laugh in movies anymore?

  • based on actual events

  • picture only taking up half the screen

  • I felt the big problem with this scene was that it was a complete twist. He didn't show any signs of knowing any of this previously. There should have been some scene previously with a government official hinting at this, so then we can go "oooh of course."

  • Aw yeah Portishead - Glory Box at the beginning!

  • Interpol is a joke.

  • 5 people can't afford sun umbrellas.

  • /watch?v=RrcgJbwHYw0 MUST WATCH FUNNNNNNNNYYYY!!!! COPY LINK INTO YOUR ADDRESS BAR

  • I hated Ethan Hawk's character, I was so glad he put his leeching ass in his place here.

  • I'm going to watch this again today cause of this video : )

  • Jeden z najlepszych filmów w historii.

  • When I watched this in theaters, when he said the bigger arms dealers in the world was the president of the US, a few people chuckled or even giggled. It seems some of us don't realize how true it is.

  • @gilless429 I laughed when I heard him say it because of the irony, rather than the fact I thought it was untrue. Maybe they did the same.

  • @LizaLips1 Maybe some. But from what I heard most thought the idea laughable (in the sense that it's absurd and cannot be true).

  • Loooool, Sun Umbrellas?! *looks*

    OH yeah good to go!

  • that was fuckin brilliant timing

  • Yalah maselem lol

  • THIS PART MAKES SO MUCH SENSE AFTER EGYT & TUNISIA --- & NOW LIBYA & SYRIA

  • @dasalekhya Yeah, this is the truth we can show. Why can we show that without being censored? Because showing weapon sellers doesn't prevent them from selling. After all, we were born to die, so we'll perfectly complete our job..

  • @dasalekhya baaaaw

  • The best scene of one of the all-time titans of pitch-black pessimistic cinema.

  • Paddle, club, rifle, and sun umbrella. Ah, the many uses of an AK-47.

This film is one of my favorite films ever made. Underrated as hell, the film is especially powerful if you study US foreign policy from 1947 onwards at the same time. Incredible film. I agree with the comment that the "knock puts it all into perspective" because it really really does.

  • very underrated film.

  • @saroshk7784 Very underrated actor... because he's so busy paying off his enormous debts that he can't afford to only be in good films.

  • @ZJGallant

True, This movie awesome, Nationals Security evil.

  • haha "sun umbrellas"

  • best scene when the knock on the door puts the whole movie in perspective

  • And sure enough it did.

  • 3 presidents of the united states disliked this

  • has Nicholas cage lost all his money now?

  • @tamerswan According to your other comment, they are in his hot looks...

  • This movie was so epic. It was a lot like BLOW with Johnny Depp except in was guns instead of cocaine and had a happier ending.

  • They don't teach you this kind of stuff in college haha

  • "You WILL skip this ad in 3...2...1..."

  • You f*ed Alonzo Harris but you won't f* me

  • LOL OWNED.

  • The interrogator looks like he's about to puke and pee his pants at the same time.

  • 2 Presidents of the United States don't like this

  • damn i miss nicolas cage older movies, look now: drive angry, kickass, sorceres aprrentice, wtf is goin

  • @karolw91 Drive Angry and Kick-Ass are GREAT, though. Sorcerer's Apprentice, not so much. But hey, it's a Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Disney flick. Nicolas Cage likes to have fun these days in movies. That's why Drive Angry and Kick-Ass are highly entertaining movies.

  • Nick has good movies, but some of these new movies cost for shit... :/

  • Nick Cage may be a crappy actor, but he certainly has his moments

  • @B1o2e3rg4e5r6 have you seen leaving las vegas, there is no doubt why he shouldn't stand beside the greats, recently his movies have gone down, he is prolly tryna make money, i mean national treasure, ghost rider and next sucked beaver balls, i do recommend you guys watch bad lieutenant: ports of New Orleans, he gave such an amazing performance, best one since adaption

  • I like you, Jack. Well, maybe not.

  • umbrellas to the sahara, Cage: Sun Umbrellas lol

  • hes right obama is te biggest arms dealer in the world. Anti war my fucking ass

  • @TheAntinode every persident not just obama

  • @jroman692 Yes and I was saying the same thing when bush was in power but if you havent noticed only one guy is president rigt now, that is obama and he is the one breaking arms deal records. I blame obama for what is appening now.

  • great scene.

  • 4:15 Nicolas Cage speaking arabic LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL hahahahahahaha

  • 0:00 skip the add

  • This movie makes you reevaluate evil... especially in this scene. Not just with Orlov's "the president's worse than me" speech, but by having him as the 'hero' who we don't want to see jailed, and having Valentine as the asshole threatening him with that, even though one's an arms dealer and the latter an Interpol agent

  • haha XD dam i love this fucken part it never gets old it makes feel Gangster lol

  • "You call me evil, but unfortunately for you I am a necessary evil" <- EPIC line

  • The man this movie was based on, viktor bout, was hired by the US to fly his supply planes into baghdad airport during the start of the iraqi war. It was too dangerous then for US planes to do the job and they wanted to keep our casualty reports down. Skip ahead a few years and now he is being extradited to the US for war crimes because he supplied the wrong coup in SEA. This segment has become a reality.

  • "i would tell u to go to hell...

...but i think ur already there"

    very well said ethan

  • "Umbrellas to the Sahara?

    Sun umbrellas"

    Epicness

  • dayum

  • The reason this scene is so amazing is because it is 100% true.

  • lmao = *knock, knock*

    owned!

  • God, I cannot stand Ethan Hawke's character in this movie... like an annoying teachers pet that's life revolves around getting you in trouble.

  • @Rw7451- And what's so bad about guys like Jack Valentine? Or teacher's pets?

And not all teacher's pets are so stupid as to let everybody know who they are.

  • sad but true, what he is saying

  • Shamsiya li shams!!!

  • Nicolas Cage should do more quiet and intense performances like these. He's a lot better when he doesn't start screaming all the time.

  • @Thorne42 So, so true :)

  • Knock Knock!

  • classic scene,,, that would awesome to have that much power

  • What. A. Legend.

  • this is inaccurate interpol agents dont take orders from anybody except the head of interpol especially not a military general

  • @captnghost8788 i don't think that's a problem for the president of the USA XD he's the most powerful men of the world.

  • the most shocking fact is that it's based on a true story :o

  • lol owned.

  • What a shame that this is so damn true... a even bigger shame is that there are more countries doing that then only the USA...

  • @EdmansTube2008

US is the biggest these days. Soviets used to be.

Nothing like proxy battles to keep things civil between Washington and Moscow.

  • @FreeAssange1 Give me a break!

Why do people like you treat this like it's some big secret revealed about the so-called "evil American empire?" It doesn't take WikiLeaks to find out that the U.S. sells military hardware. All those countries flying F-16s, where do you think those planes came from?

The U.S. is not alone in selling arms, either. Countries export their military hardware all the time. It's hardly the big secret you make it out to be.

  • This movie is pure awesomeness! I hope that more people see it/learn from it, and I hope they make a sequel! :]

  • whoever was responsible for translating the dialogue at 4:15 onwards made a mistake. They translate umbrella as 'shemsiyya', which isn't necessarily incorrect. Only that 'shemsiyya' means an umbrella specifically designed or used to block the sun; 'shems' meaning sun in Arabic. A better word to have used would have been 'madhalla', meaning umbrella, but without specifying the usage.

  • wow epic line necesery evil, and its treu

  • -Umbrellas to the Sahara?

    -Sun umbrellas.

  • In your face, Scarface!

  • PWNED! But that whole scene is not fiction but truth. When I was in the theater that day. The entire auditorium just laughed like crazy.

"The world's biggest arms dealer, the president of the united states!" well duh!

  • @filththatisi We do what we can mate!

  • @filththatisi By "most Americans are stupid" you actually mean "I believe all Americans are stupid, but I'm trying to fool people into thinking I'm an open-minded person who doesn't stereotype others."

    Jerkass.

  • @theurbansurvivalist1 Which means you happily consider yourself stupid as well, huh?

    Cultural cringe at its finest.

  • Comment removed

  • @theurbansurvivalist1 I've not proven filthatisi's point at all, but you've proven mine quite handily, that jerkasses such as yourself use the word "most" as verbal chaff when you really mean "all."

Your snobbish attempt to deflect my observation as a "lack of education," which you then attribute to my supposedly being American, underscores my point about generalizing jerkasses like you.

  • @theurbansurvivalist1 Yes, it took four days to respond to your comment, just like it took a week to respond to your initial response to me, because I don't spend every second of my day checking my YouTube inbox. I have better things to do with my time than wait around for your next weak attempts to justify your bigoted mentality, you see.

  • @theurbansurvivalist1 Aww, poor baby. Did I touch a nerve? Is that why you're resorting to childish namecalling and fantasizing about what kind of person I must be, all because I called you out for your bigoted, baseless delusions of superiority?

  • Comment removed

  • This is the real deal of wars are. Marines that go to combat refuse to make it the military their career because their close friends were shot my arms "Made in USA" to include AK47's, M16's, grenade launchers, mortars, etc. To them "It's just business, so don't take it personal".

  • dont think america is all ways good guys they do horrble things that they cover up or burn it. but most of the time america is the good guys to help countrys in need and need to be free form dicators some thing like that

  • @RUSSIA8601

    You can't even spell.

  • @RUSSIA8601

I call that getting involved in other people's business, and for most of the time they fail to achieve what was said in their manifestos. For all of the time it is solely for self interest. There is no government that recognises suffering before interest.

  • I like you Jack... Well maybe I don't... XDDDDD

  • JUST EPIC!

  • that happens in Egypt aloooot

  • I like you jack....maybe not...

  • "but some of those men are the enemys of your enemys and all the worlds biggest arms dealers are you boss, president of US who ships more merchandise in a day more then i do in a year. Some time he needs a freelancer like me to supply forces so he cant be seen what he supplies"

    very very epic

  • @TURKSTA19 The truth always is.

  • Easily one of Nicholas Cages best performances and he usually gives a pretty good performance. Top...Maybe 2 I think. Yeah, top 2 sounds right.

  • Umbrellas to Saharas ? Umbrelles for the sun ! :p

  • umbrellas to sahara : D

  • haha probably lol

  • that part is freaken hardcore i wish i had that kind of power lol

  • @11Kikos i believe you will have that power when you get deserted by everyone including your family just like yuri orlov.

  • One of my favorite movies, thanks for posting!

  • movies with a bad ending are mostly the best, and in this one, everyone has a price to pay, yuri loses his complete family, jack has to let him go, the president of liberië loses his son, only that general has a bit of profit

  • @satanslegacy Because it's a realistic ending

  • "you call me evil but unfortunately for you i'm a necessary evil" best line ever
