I'm very much looking forward to David Wald's future VA work as Gajeel when he becomes a member of Fairy Tail. He sounds INCREDIBLY sinister here, I wonder how he'll try to pull off the good-but-not-so-nice guy voice.

The only thing I hate about the dub in Fairy Tail is Levi's voice. God it is horrible. Otherwise it is real good

The dub is not bad why people hate it? Just try to get use to it. I hated it first. But After you you seen 5 episodes of it, Then it becomes good. It is my opinion.

@comin40 I think some people are so biased that they can't tell that this dub is actually well-acted. Others just hate the sound of their English voices or think they sound too old (not that their Japanese counterparts necessarily sound any younger).

I do agree that the Animax dub is vastly inferior. Anyone who prefers it over the Funi dub must have a high tolerance for subpar voice acting and bad writing. :x

@PurpleTian that is so true. When dub haters watch a dub anime, they already expect the voices to be the same as the japanese version. If the dub is slitly different, then they will say it is bad. I don't like them as much because they expect to much. The dub is going to be different the the japanese. They shold know this already.

@comin40 That's exactly it. I was a dub hater for several years, so I can speak from experience. :x You mentioned one issue I had - expecting dub voices to sound the same as the Japanese ones.

I also thought that the English VAs didn't sound as emotional, so that always threw me off. However, Japanese and English are two very different languages, so emotion is expressed differently (unfortunately, English isn't the most emo-sounding language, so it's already at a disadvantage...).

@PurpleTian so true. I speak Japanese alittle and I am learning it. The voices very dramatic. It is just that the Dub haters do not give dubs a chance. Some who hate it look at the voice actor's previous acting and compare it to the one he/she does now. for example. todd( voice of Nastu) does the voice of death the kid. Everytime they here todd doing natsu's voice they already hated it. They need to give the guy a chance. he is good as him. now I can't imagine another voicing natsu

@comin40 Yeah, the Japanese used in anime is extremely dramatized. Although that works for Japan, I can't say the same kind of delivery would work for an English dub...

I also think it's a little unfair to label something as bad before giving it a serious chance. Todd really steals the show as Natsu. The problem is..people tend to get caught up with the sound of a voice and not focus enough on performance or the ability to bring a character to life. ;(

I hate Natsu and Lucy's voices. When I hear Natsu, I immagine him like "Symmetry!" and Lucy can NOT sound intimidating like thaat. Other than that, this dub is fantastic, and it totally beats the animax dub (which sucked).

@newmoongirl811 No, I'm fairly certain Greg Ayres does not play Natsu. But anyway, you may change your tone when you hear him sound PISSED. And I mean really, really, REALLY PISSED. Especially his roar. And not his attack; when he roars, he really ROARS.

@ibobcey There's more swearing in this dub than you think. I haven't heard many "damns," but there ARE quite a number of "hells" and "craps." In fact, the crazy rock musician man says "Go to hell" just like he does in Japanese. And there's the fight scene between the masters of Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord where Makarov tells Jose to surrender, and Jose roars "NO WAY IN HELL!" It is EPIC.

Besides, I think Fairy Tail benefits from this. The scenes when they DO swear become more powerful.

Its too bad the English dub by Funimation is canceled. Funimation you seriously fail if your not planning on doing ALL of the episodes of Fairy Tail.

@UzamakiNaruto085 Huh. Last I checked Funi's super eager to get the license to season 2 once they get enough money to dub it. I mean, it's not like the process is free, so if they seriously planned to get ALL the episodes to a series without knowing if everyone would pay to watch it, let alone watch it at all, then THAT would be a serious fail.

I really hope you're just making an assumption you didn't think through after hearing they're only dubbing the first 48 episodes.

@UzamakiNaruto085 I also hope you're mistaking the Animax dub for Funi in regards to it being canceled. Because the Animax dub was definitely canceled to my knowledge. (Also, the Animax dub sucks.)

Another thing that was true last time I checked was that the DVDs have been selling fairly well, or at least not bad enough to warrant a cancellation.

Long story short, your statement is news to me, and will be even more worth my time if it's an unquestionable fact.

~Yep, It amazing since even after only being out since November and December Fairy Tail was able to be the 3rd best selling Title in 2011.

=Hell they could've already gotten the license for the 2nd season, they said in a Commentary that they started dubbing the first season in January of last year (2011). but didn't announce the license until Mid April.

@RyuKirin1 As I like to say, the biggest flaw about the Animax dub is that, even at its best, all the actors were wooden. It's like the dub itself was literally made of wood. So it had little option other than to burn.

@immblueversion I apologize, i got my information crossed, It was funimation that aquired the 48 episodes, and when i read that after episode 48 "Canceled" im like "Wait a sec...why would Funimation claim the rights, only to cancel it..?" but when i read the info carefully it was Animax that canceled there dub so yeah... I dont think Funimation tends to quit on there dubs, just look at Soul Eater and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, both sold well In my Opinion

Aw, they cut right when Natsu was rolling on the ground saying how it didn't hurt! I heard the dubbed version and it's one of my favorite performances from Todd Haberkorn yet, and only further solidified my love for his role as Natsu, but why not let the other people hear it now, Funi...?

By the way, gotta love Gajeel's throaty, lizard-like voice; it really makes him sound like the kin of a dragon.
