So you reckon about 2 stop difference? Both cams are actually at F2.8 at full zoom, correct? How far either of the cameras can be pushed? Say, if the HMC40 breaks into mush at 24dB but the DVX still holds at 12dB, then the DVX will come out as a winner. I wish you've made such a test. But at 12dB the HMC40 looks no worse than the DVX at 0dB, and shows a bit more details. I did not see any shimmering noise from the HMC40, its noise reduction is pretty good.
@ConsumerDV It's about 2 stops and +12dbs. The way I look at it is, the HMC40@ +12dbs is about the same as the DVX100b@ 0dbs in that type of lower than normal light. Fortunately the HMC40 has minimal grain @+12dbs. Ill have some more tests up soon.
