addoreable... my shelties are afraid of the mop and vaccuum but loves horse oh boy they will herd for hours and they will run for hours. my son got one sheltie up to 50 km/h using his quad... pretty fast for a small animal...

to Elmo Show...just be forearned that shelties can be very barky/aggressive...mine was. It also likes to herd things...and chew up things (but all puppies do that the first year or so)...Try reading up on some books by Matthew Margolis of Caesar Milan first before you get a new dog..They'll tell you exactly what it's like raising one.

I LOVE Shelties!!! My family has had 2 of them our first one Pete was euthanized  at 12 for kidney failure. Our 2nd sheltie is named Margo she is a blue merle and is adorable. I love their personalities.

You don't have to do too much, maybe a couple of minutes of brushing per day to stop knots growing, especially behind the ears. Hope you get a nice sheltie.

Start on the brushing even while the puppy is young and doesn't need it, so s/he gets used to it and enjoys it. If you wait til the fur is long the dog might not like the new experience quite so much. Make sure you brush around the backside too, because that can be some mess...and you don't want a dog that objects to getting its butt cleaned if necessary!

@tuppenlee i have a sheltie and they are VERY smart and fast.....you should walk the at least 3 times a week, brush there teeth once every1-2 weeks, and brush them 3 times a month.they are GREAT dogs!

@TheElmoShow1 Watch out for ticks and fleas when brushing them. My family lives in a rural area overrun with feral cats, so we have to search them or they get infested with the little blood-suckers.
