Nikon's EDG series Binoculars

These are huge! They look almost exactly like porro-prism binoculars, Actually, porro would have been better because of the inherent superior stereoscopic effect. One must wonder why Nikon bothered with making these in the roof prism form. Roofs are more expensive to make and require an extra prism coating layer. I have nothing against roofs but given the size of this thing I suspect the money would have been better spent in making it a porro binocular with an even better optics.
