  • thats a cool effect

  • i want to go to this SCHOOOOL!!! =D

  • thought you would like my visual effects videos.

    take care,

    zach

  • one focking freaking fault, she isn't wearing gloves, and that is not quite good in such an environment

  • i would put my seemann in that chick

  • Constructive Criticism

    1) Rotating 2D text in 3D space looks pretty cheesy.

    2) Distant mountains in the first shot should not be that blurry.

    3) Footsteps in that same shot are way too loud. Shouldn't here them anyways.

    4) 3D parallax in that same shot was off.

    5) In the 2nd shot, when the flowers pop up, the snow they give off does not react with the ground properly. They should fall farther due to the indentations.

    6) It sounds like a huge storm? The fog should not be stationary.

  • Seemann?

  • VANCOUVER ROCK ON!!!

  • his name is seman? ... seman? LOL great effects tho

  • how about u guys do an online course for those who are unable to come and stay in Canada including me...............will help a lot...........

  • Don't you guys do video game stuff too? Or is it only film? I cant decide If i want to go into visual effects or video game stuff.

  • Take a look at our full list of programs at vfs(dot)com/programs - we offer 3D Animation & Visual Effects, and Game Design Production programs.

  • @VancouverFilmSchool So in the visual effects program, what programs do you cover? Is it the basics (AE, PP and other adobe type programs) AND/OR 3D stuff?

  • @getreelstudio We do cover some of the basics such as AE and other Adobe programs in our 3D Animation & Visual Effects program, but our students also learn to use 3D and modeling software packages such as Maya, XSI, ZBrush, Renderman and so on. Hope that answers your question. Thanks!

  • what software was used.

I assume. maya, nuke, PS, and AE

  • Keep watching until the credits - it shows what software was used. Thanks!

  • beautiful stuff, excellent!!

  • woa this was rly cool!

  • You do this in Windows Movie Marker ;]

  • No, I did this stuff in Paint. Its so easy!!!

  • was it animated or real....?

    damn...VFS gets better and better...

    Love it!

  • Great effects in this video! Which program did you use to create these? The breakdown section is great, have you ever thought of doing a more in-depth tutorial about how to create these effects?

  • Glad you enjoyed it! If you check the credits at the end of the video it shows you which programs the student used.

Thanks for your suggestion on the in-depth tutorials!

  • all of that work for a 1 minute scene. Thats true dedication. I don't think I would have had the patience for it.

  • This is the reason movies are so expensive to make.

  • Now this one is great. Love dynamic scenery in films. Don't really care if it's superimposed or not just love it. Really well done. Damn it I want to be at VFS!

  • nice....

  • impressive

  • sux to be those monks, no shops within miles

  • Jeez! It's not the first reel by VFS that looks like real picture, but anyways. Great job on this one!

  • cool... i thought the establish scene was done in vue 7xstream...

  • Your effects reel actually tells a story.

    THANK YOU.

it's nice to know somebody takes the video project portion of the class seriously.

  • Engaging story line. Helps to take focus away from visual imperfections. Is there a part 2?! Wondering what do you do with feedback from here?

  • Awesome! I had to watch it twice before I could comment. I need to see moar!

  • u guys need to make a movie, that would be cool!

  • The ending of the hand movement when the window is opened could use some re-work... but you really don't notice anything on the first view. Its when you realize how everything is done so perfect that you notice all the little things that make this Reel... well, a Reel.

  • smoooth great work

  • this is great.

  • nice work.

  • If it had not been for those flowers popping up from the snow I could have sworn this was real.. AMAZING job!

  • Incredibly amazing work, great job. what is the software after Ps and the one after Maya?

  • Nice done and realy cool sound!

  • Amazing work!

    Racism is OVER Long AGO

  • I think you need to be at least 19 and have finished High School.

  • It's not that age but the fact that i'm Black from Africa they think i'm too stupid

  • yeah, im sure that since youre black they wont accept you...

  • EASY word to throw out there?!

  • Benjamin Colling, Director of Admissions:

VFS accepts students from all over the world including all African countries. Our worldwide student body is from over 75 countries and every continent except Antarctica, and thats one of the things that makes us special.

We do know that it is extremely difficult for individuals from certain countries to obtain the study permits required to study in Canada. Each study permit application is reviewed according to the government of Canadas requirements.

  • To obtain a study permit, students must be able to show the government proof that they have enough funds to pay for tuition and living expenses. In addition, they must submit proof that after their studies they will return to their home country. In practice we have found that providing sufficient proof to satisfy both of these requirements is difficult.

  • Finally, in order to gain acceptance at VFS, you must meet our age and education requirements. Please feel free to email me directly with any other questions that you might have.

    Best regards,

    Benjamin Colling

  • is there an age limit for adults?

  • Hi! We accept all ages over 19 or having completed High School. Hope that helps!

  • And what about people at the age of 18 that graduated? Whe here in Belgium have a diffrent kind of school system. And I was planning, if all goes well to go to vfs if possible.

  • The age restriction is not firmly set, as long as you have completed High School and meet the program requirements you should be fine. If you would like to speak to one of our Admissions Advisors to discuss your particular situation further please visit vfs[dot]com/startnow

Thanks for your interest in VFS!
