I read a comments elsewhere that this guy was crazy? I don't think so. I think i'ts crazy to make up fake people and fuck around with others. Some people are successful finding people online, including Facebook, but increasingly, people are bull shitting constantly. So its hard to believe shit. Its easy to bull shit people, if you try hard enough.

I think what a lot of people don't seem to get is that in a very unique way, this is a horror film. It's not horror in the whole, hey this terrible evil force is chasing you down sort of thing. Look, if you're the sort of person who needs explosions and heads getting ripped off or ghosts terrorizing people, you're not going to enjoy the film. The horror in it comes from the reality of people's lives. It's about seeing how hugely, terribly misled you can be. It's about life being ugly sometimes.

Like the woman would have let them film her, then lie on camera knowing this shit was going public. They even told the "family's" full name, so some one had to agree to that shit. Oh she felt guilty so she let them do it, yet she lied the whole time? Yea fuckin right.
this move sucked ass, I'm all for independent artsy films but this trailer completely lied to me. If they would have advertised it more honestly then it would have been a decent facebook film. But the theme of the movie seems to be when you get old life gets really boring.
This trailer did a great job making you think the ending is so much more intense than it really is. To be honest i enjoyed it, but if you're looking for some insanely twisted ending don't waste your time. props to the directors tho, had me fooled.

This film was brilliant! For a couple of minutes I was really upset that the two handicapped twins hadn't beat them to death, or that the little girl hadn't been possessed. A disappointing ending, until you think about it.

They clearly take advantage of the many docu-style thrillers and horror films out there. I saw the film before I watched this and it clearly misleads you into thinking that something horrific is going to happen, like some Texas Chainsaw shit is about to go down. Great movie though! :)

I watched this for the first time today in my film studies class and we all loved it. I feel it makes you more aware of your online security and what kind of people are out there.
But after reading some of the comments below, I think people are watching for something that it isn't. This is a true story and the events of the narrative unfold at the same time for them as they do for us.
So watch the film in the right context and appreciate it as something different.

I thought this was a legit, real life horror story and I was so stoked to see it. Me and two of my friends drove an hour from where we lived just to watch it because it was only in select theaters. I was literally shaking during the scene where they drove up to the farm, and then when nothing remotely scary happened, I was so pissed. Due to the false advertising, I refused to even like the film for weeks until I realized it was actually a very important film for our generation.

I just finished watching it. Personally, I liked it. Not what the trailer makes it out to be, but I wasn't mad at what it actually is. It's a pretty bizarre conclusion. Sort of sad, really. Hard to explain, but I would describe it as a psychological drama, if that makes any sense.

If any of it is actually true (& I'm not convinced), I'd say he stayed nice to her because he had decided early on that he was going to exploit the footage as a doco and would need her permission to do it. There was something about her that seemed unsettling real, that she was mentally not quite right - a compulsive liar; completely manipulative but with an innocent side - the part of her that believed in her own fantasy; the part that fell in love with the idea that she could make it all real.

@smartsy1 The directors are smart but the trailer is VERY misleading. It makes it look like they go on some bizarre trip. They clearly take advantage of the many docu-style thrillers and horror films out there. I saw the film before I watched this and it clearly misleads you into thinking that something horrific is going to happen, like some Texas Chainsaw shit is about to go down. Great movie though! :)

@smartsy1 I watched this and I think it's brilliant. I expected some horror story too, but I have also had these experiences like Nev. Maybe not so elaborate, but very similar. It's so disappointing when you build someone up in your mind only to be so let down. The greater your imagination and expectations, the worse it is.

I watched this for the first time today in my film studies class and we all loved it. I feel it makes you more aware of your online security and what kind of people are out there.
But after reading some of the comments below, I think people are watching for something that it isn't. This is a true story and the events of the narrative unfold at the same time for them as they do for us.
So watch the film in the right context and appreciate it as something different.

I thought this was a legit, real life horror story and I was so stoked to see it. Me and two of my friends drove an hour from where we lived just to watch it because it was only in select theaters. I was literally shaking during the scene where they drove up to the farm, and then when nothing remotely scary happened, I was so pissed. Due to the false advertising, I refused to even like the film for weeks until I realized it was actually a very important film for our generation.

I just finished watching it. Personally, I liked it. Not what the trailer makes it out to be, but I wasn't mad at what it actually is. It's a pretty bizarre conclusion. Sort of sad, really. Hard to explain, but I would describe it as a psychological drama, if that makes any sense.

If any of it is actually true (& I'm not convinced), I'd say he stayed nice to her because he had decided early on that he was going to exploit the footage as a doco and would need her permission to do it. There was something about her that seemed unsettling real, that she was mentally not quite right - a compulsive liar; completely manipulative but with an innocent side - the part of her that believed in her own fantasy; the part that fell in love with the idea that she could make it all real.

"Oh no, she isn't perfect woman, let's cry about it because clearly she's the only girl that'll ever like me." At least Centipede tried being original, suspenseful, and having that thing called entertainment. People say it's stupid because it's not exactly logical, so are a lot of movies. I was expecting something entertaining, not a horror film from this movie.

I can't believe that Angela really sent him a $500.00 check. Also, his reactions and his brother's and friend's reactions to the truth seem off base. And I don't believe for a minute that Nev was feeling "lonely" after they came back from Michigan. This guy is 24 years old living in NYC and is tall, dark and handsome and he sports a tramp stamp. I'm sure he's not "lonely" lol! I do believe he may have been hard up for money, considering he doesn't seem to do anything, including not cooking.

thanks to a friend's warning not to watch the trailer and read reviews prior to watching the docu. obviously, this movie is not for everyone. it basically says, people can be so complicated, and you might think them, weird, sick, psycho's, but at the end of the day, they're human beings too. I think she is just one person trying to deal with her life, with her reality, and aren't we all trying to do the same thing? BUT. it did remind me too NOT to do SNS anymore in 5-10yrs time lol
