Evolution may only be a theory, but creationism isn't even a theory. It's religious dogma. I have a feeling Anna was trying to answer in an as diplomatic manner as possible, fearing to alienate people from either side of the issue. Her answer probably alienated both.
There are no scientific theories explaining how we got here except evolution. The bible offers untestable conjecture not theories. Biblical stories explain nothing. replacing a mystery with a bigger mystery is not an answer.
Creation is not science, noting about it is scientific.
Instant respect loss. Anna Prosser believes that religion should be taught in school.
Unless she is talking about something else than the judeo-christian myth of Genesis of course, although I haven't heard of a scientific theory competing with Darwin's.
My Top 15 prediction are: California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington & Wyoming
Why the fuck are they asking whether evolution should be taught? Surely the question should be whether creationism should be taught or not?
Evolution is a sound scientific fact and should be taught as such.
I knew American is a deeply religious country, but this is mental. I feel sorry for all you logical, rational Americans who have to put up with this shit.
the thing most people don't know about Anna: she's crazy smart. and she wants to know everything about everything. she's not dissing evolution...she just wants to know more. Oregon ftw!
@Antreck dude, evolution is still just a theory. There are some things that oppose it. So even if most evidence points toward it, its not yet proven to be 100% true.
Her answer was way way more intelligent then yours, and I bet she looks way way better then U too.
Gravity is also "just a theory", but there is no next stage of how proved something is in science than "a theory". However, evolution is also treated as much as a fact as gravity is.
I do partially agree with Anna though; Other theories should be taught, but not in a science class.
@adios012 Evolution is 100% demonstrable fact in the sense that bacteria and small microbes evolve when subjected to different conditions in the lab. The only reason the scientific principle can't be extended to life on earth over millions of years is purely political.
Oh, by the way, if you're trying to insult someone's intelligence, it helps your point when you don't get the words "than" and "then" mixed up.
she's a cuty

The answer is of course nothing, yet she has anyway.
That made me sad

Do you think gravity should be taught in schools?
I think it should be presented but other options should be presented too. It shouldn't be the only one.
Antreck 8 months ago 79
@Antreck Actually, gravity can't really be expained. That's a big part of what Einstein worked with and the theory of relativity.
