  • Do Vox wah wah pedals work on bass or do you need a certain type?

  • @Keopro I have a special one, designed for bass. I'm no expert, so can't answer your question.

  • Sabbath yeah :)

  • If you didnt cover Bassicaly then why did you cover Bassicaly? Lol. I like the sound of that Crybaby.. Might get one myself

  • @VoodooVuich89 Thing is I didn't learn the song. Ususlly, to call a video a cover, I usually take the time to learn it. This time, the idea was to show off the pedal, but yeah, what I play is very bassically influenced, lol

  • sweet fender

  • Fucking Love Sabbath. N.I.B. is Geezer showing his bass solo work

  • Awesome shirt man! Great video :)

  • @PunkRockCovers Thanks

  • tabs?

  • WHAT YOU SHOULD PLAY

    AUDIOSLAVE - COCHISE

  • fucking good!

  • you are my lost dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : DDD

  • What about using a second finger?

  • @FuzzyHead007 I'm thinking I should have used three. Why use only two when you can do the same job using three?

  • @korgrandi I mean your right hand. Looks to mee, that youre using only one finger, or is it just the video?

  • @FuzzyHead007 That's what I meant too. Just wanted to make the point that I don't use two fingers because I can hit all the notes with one. When I need two, I use two.

  • as long as he funky grooves with one, what's the need/point ?

  • ♥ your fender shirt

  • trippy

  • there's wah, and there's bass wah

  • responding doesn't work for some reason.

@korgrandi so what effects do you use more often? while playing what?

i found a local place where I can by such a pedal for about $130 or 103 euros (I dunno where are you from) - does it worth it? and how much did your wah cost?

  • didn't you start playing some Black Sabbath song with clean sound in the end? I'm sure you did!

also, the pedal sounds great, I wish i had money to buy it :(

  • @ylygylygynda Yep. NIB. Pedal sounds great, but I never actually use it. It is also pretty expensive, being a Dunlop product.

  • @korgrandi so what effects do you use more often? while playing what?

  • @korgrandi I wonder how Geezer got his bass to sound the way it does in NIB (when he plays the riff you did at the very end)

  • What amp are you using my friend? Annd what about the p-bass, am std? mexican? all stock?

    thx

  • @MemeTufi No amp in the vid. Bass through a Boss ME-50B pedal, then through the Dunlop Cry Baby, and straight in the computer.

Bass is a 2004 Highway 1 P-Bass. Changed the pickups for Seymour Duncan SPB3s. Oh and change the ugly white pickguard too.

  • ive herd this song somewhere

  • this is amazing

  • Great!!!

  • geezer it up

  • sounds a lot like the bass solo by geezer butler in N.I.B. but that sounds good

  • @ Magniumman

If you knew how to use a wah, you would know that your leg never moves...it is just your foot pivoting via a joint called the ankle.

    @ OP

    Nice Sabbath cover man =)

Some people say my love cannot be true...

  • @Udonitron your soo dumb. if you knew how to play a guitar, you would know that im fucking better than you, and have more experiance than you have ever had in your fucking life. I dont need a fucking science lesson, dr faggot

  • @Magniumman

    7 months later a reply...nice man

    Pony express

You know what I can do better 100%?

Spell and use proper punctuation and grammar.

    Experiance? Really?

    Education for the win!

  • @korgandi

its not that hard to make a video and then take the sound track and put it in a crappy music editing program and add wah to the sound track...

  • @Magniumman Don't think a "crappy program" could simulate teh GCB-100 this well. But I do own this pedal and I was using it in this vid. It's your right to think it's fake though.

  • this is so fake, your leg isnt even moving.

  • @Magniumman

Fake? LOL! Yeah, and where did I get this audio track do you think?

  • @Magniumman you cant even see his leg!!!

  • best t shirt evar

  • oh cuz i have danelectro trip l wah pedal and i kinda don't like especially cuz you have to keep moving the pedal. lol is there any pedal you kan buy that you dont have to??? like just click on play and klick off??

  • do you have to keep flipping the pedal or do you just hold it down and play and let go when you what to cut the crybaby??

  • @the1990musiclover You have to move the pedal up and down to get the wah effect. Then when you want to turn it off just press harder with the toes until it clicks.

  • dude, what strings are you using ? their sound seems to blend very well with the sound of your p bass + wah. could they be dean markley blue steel ?

  • @slumberjammer

I don't remember what strings I was using on that vid but I'm positive they're not dean markley blue steel. They're either rotosounds stainless steel, or d'addario nickel wounds.

  • its just the classic geezer butler sounds hey korgandi if you add a bit more treble or maybe even a lgiht drive itll sound perfect but its really good

  • man you just nailed the Geezer Butler sound so badly !

  • wooow..very cool..I like it... =)

  • pretty cool!...... this pedal is exclusive for bass?

  • The pedal I'm using is designed for bass, yes.

  • insane waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

    you are great.

  • @91Lizardking

    I'm not, the pedal is.

  • @korgrandi LOL

  • Thats the intro solo from N.I.B isnt it?

  • Kinda, I don't know it correctly.

  • WAH-OW.

    That's pretty sweet. I wiiiiiish I had a bass soooooo bad D:

  • dude that's a sick sound

  • Yeah, it's all in the gear

  • awesome. im goin to guitar center and buyin one tomorrow

  • Dunlop make 2 completely different sounding Wahs for bass. The 105Q and the GCB-100. Try'em out both before you buy one, or listen to them both on YT. They sound very different.

  • thats really awesome. are you using an actual bass wah or like a regular guitar wah?

  • It's a bass Wah.

  • hye nice video

can you give me your specs like what your bass and what amp are you using cause im loking for that sound at the end when your not using the pedal....???

    thankx

  • @ger3plokiju

I never know exactly what my settings are, I keep changing them. Sounds like I had a lot of compression and boosted the mids.

If you want to hear more, and get a better idea, my Children of the Grave vid was recorded with these settings.

  • bro...i have a quick question and I don't know if you can answer this but can the dunlop wah (for guitar) be used with a bass guitar. The music shops here don't have the bass wah and have told me to buy the guitar wah and use it with my bass.

  • I dunno man. A friend of mine borrowed my bass wah for the guitar for a while and said it was good. What you're asking is the opposite. Dunno man, don't want to be the one advising you to spend big bucks on something not good.

  • @scarsymmetry1989 No it cant be used with a guitar..

  • hey what are you settings on your effects pedal board for this vid

  • @junior1190

At the end of the vid you can hear me switching off the Dunlop Wah. My tone is compressed with mids boosted.

  • grooves kid

  • Dude, i have a precision also, but instead of having a black faceplate like yours, i have a white one, i don't like it that much and want a black one, you able to change it at all? and buy different plates?

  • Yep. Count the number of screws (usually 13 or 14 if I remember correctly) and buy one with the same number of holes. Of course if you get your hands on one with not the correct number of holes you can drill your own.

  • Cool thanks a bunch

  • Well Korg, from here it sounds like you pretty much have it, but put your own thing into which is cool. Bassically is going to take a long time for me! :)

  • Thanks man. Good luck with it. Too much work for me to learn correctly.

  • cool demonstration of wah and bass im hoping to get one(wah pedal) for my bass just to give it the edge for a couple of songs with distortion anyway good ,job man

  • Thanks man. Yes, it can be very cool.

  • If I'm right, Fasel inductors were first used in Vox wahs...

  • Quite possible. Thanks for the info.

  • Nice playin' man!

  • it costs 119.95 at guitar center, plus tax. so itll come out to around 130/

  • hello !

    what bass is ?

    what amp is ?

i'm brazilian and need buy one wah pedal !

    thanks !

  • Comment removed

  • What you're seeing might be the headphones cord. I'm using a Wah pedal.

  • this is part of a black sabath song but i cant remember the name of the song

  • The song you're referring to is N.I.B.

  • basically/nib

  • how much did you pay for that dude(the pedal)?

  • Hey man, well I bought it brand new in a music store in Canada. Seems I wanted to make sure it cost me a lot. I don't remember exactly but must have been around 150$ with taxes and all, maybe even a bit more.

  • thanks im looking at one for about 130 so i just want to make sure i wasnt getting robbed

  • N.I.B.

  • N.I.B.

  • nice

  • fucking great

  • what kind of talk box?

  • it's not a talkbox it's a wah

  • very, very nice sound. i lov it

  • Thanks

  • Dont worry about it bro. you helped than you. i was thinking about buying the GCB-100 but i needed some one with a masterful tone for an opinion.

  • By comparison, which (in your opinion )pedal would you recommend for a more vintage and/or versatile sound?

    the GCB-100 or the 105Q?

  • Well I don't own a 105Q so I don't have a real opinion. But what I've heard on youtube of the 105Q, I think the GCB-100 has a much more vintage sound. For versatility... I don't know. I don't think the GCB-100 is versatile, and I have no idea about the 105Q. Sorry for not helping you out more.

  • NIB RLZ good sound i like it

  • Thanks

  • 0_0 it sound very cool man... i love jim dunlop cry baby wah pedal.

  • Funny. I used to rest my thumb on the neck, and never thought I'd see another bassist do it

Great stuff, man. For some reason it reminds me of Native American tribal music or something

  • Thanks man. I rest my thumb on the neck when trying to mimick Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath.

  • Awesome job! What kind of DI box r u using? Its the best bass sound I've ever heard on YouTube!

  • Thanks man! My setup:

    Bass -> Boss Me-50B -> Jim Dunlop GCB-100 -> MiniDV cam

  • whats the bass/amp combo? it sounds amazing.

  • No amp here man. I record direct for YT. The essence of my tone here is the Precision bass, and the Jim Dunlop GCB-100 Wah. The more popular bass Wah from Jim Dunlop (the 105Q) doesn't sound like this. I own a Fender 100 Combo amp and it sounds amazing through it. But I prefer recording direct for YT.

    Thanks.

  • sounds really good! keep up the good work.

  • you got the tone that butler had right down to a tee

    sounds fucking awsome

  • Thanks man. I find I'm pretty close to his tone also.

  • lol sounded pretty good to me, but that song (ide imagine) is really hard to get exactly right lol, so far i got like the main part lol i dont gotta wah peddle no more so yeah.. lol

  • Thanks. Yeah, it's hard to memorize correctly.

  • haha fuckin great man lol

i tried to learn that song a few years back when i started learnin bass but gave up cuz i couldnt get it lol, thinkin bout tryin again lol but yeah awesome job dude

  • Thanks man, but don't learn it from me, it's really really wrong. I was just jamming. I've tried many times to learn it correctly but always give up.

  • nice dude NIB, im lookin at this pedal an that helped me out a gud bit

  • Hey man, glad this could be helpful

  • What other effects do u use (if any)..please reply (i was thinkin about getting this pedal)

  • I have compression, pretty heavy compression actually, and EQ (boosted the mids). That's it.

  • Thanks.....I Have A Epiphone SG EB-3 ...would u reccomend getting this pedal for that bass.

  • I'm no bass expert, far from that actually. I don't know the Epiphone SG EB-3, but it's probably a very good instrument.

If I had to do it again, I would not buy it. Not because it doesn't sound good, but because it's near to useless for me. I never use it.

I'm really not the good person to advise you, sorry.

  • i have a crybaby but the sound is so bad...your sound is good...what is the set up of your effect??the volume and the Q??and the set up of the amplifier?answer me please...

  • Hmm, I'd like to help you buddy, but I do nothing special. The Jim Dunlop doesn't hace a single knob. It just sounds that way. That day, I had just done my Children of the Grave cover, so I had boosted the mids. But that pedal always sounds good, no matter what the amp settings are.

  • nice bass playing, i wish i had a bass but i decided to go electric and acoustic

    how long u been playing?

  • Thanks. Been playing the bass for over 5 or 6 years.

  • nice got a band?

  • I jam with buddies once in a while, and you could call that a band, yes, but nothing serious.

  • nice :)

  • awesome video, like the wah-wah efect...thats the intro to Black Sabbath's N.I.B btw

  • Thanks man! You're right, it is the intro to NIB, and it is called "Bassically". It just is not played exactly like that. That's why I mentioned it because some hard core Sabbath fans will notice that right away and I don't want to get heat from them evil followers of the prince of darkness...

  • i see lol. im trying to learn to intro but im still having trouble but im learning. cool intro and i like the wah-wah effect. it makes the tone more awesome

  • Great sounding bass wah. I read your description, I would have to say of all the songs I've ever tried to cover, that one was the most difficult. I just couldn't make it through to the end without missing something. Now I can though, it becomes like riding a bike and gets to be second nature. I can play it now without much thought but it took about 1000 attempts for me to get there, lol. Anyway that wah is fantastic.

  • Yep, I believe you. I don't know how many times I tried to play this song using your vid and Munkybarz' as a reference. It just doesn't stick in my mind. So my lazy half got in an argument with my perfectionist half asking it "what's the use? Why cover it? Can't even jam to this tune!" and the argument's issue is displayed in this vid.
