The mic joke is that microphones are generically black at the base. Streisand didn't want a BLACK microphone, she wanted a WHITE one, so she took OPRAH'S BLACK mic and painted it white to indirectly insult Oprah because she's black.
@MyidolGwen I don't think it was a race thing..I think it just wanted it to go with her weird "ivory" colored wardrobe theme. I think it was just supposed to be funny because it made her look a little bit diva and a little bit neurotic.
i just saw the actual performance that kathy was talking about. streisand dressed in white from head to toe, the mic is white and the dog pics popped up in the middle of the song. it's so random that it's positively glorious. right now i'm rofl-ing.
Oprah is at least as big a control freak as Streisand, so a guest stealing and, well, vandalizing the show's equipment - can't think she was too pleased.
I love how she found out Clay before he even came out! She just doesn't miss a thing.
