She retired when she married the love of her life...Stu Wilson, a big time radio guy here in L.A. I never met him but she loved him till the day she died and never regreted leaving show business. I got to see her tap dance when she was like 82 in her living room!AMAZING!!! Like a second grandma. I miss her. Thank goodness we still have these movies
Anyway, I hope to start up a Tribute page to her some time soon when I have more time and feel beter (I've been a bit ill). I have a large collection which includes several other dancers from that time. Please feel free to mention any other bits of information about her. Thanks!
She also said Cary Grant was amazingly kind...she was in Idiot's Delight with him. Mickey Rooney, well you don't wanna know what she said about him! LOL. Anyway, the point is that she was a fabulous dancer, one of the best...known as a dancer's dancer in the business. She was often called on to teach tap routines to some of the better known dancers. .
It's tough to find mentions of her in Hollywood magazines. I have yet to find a single mention of her entertaining the troops during WWII. I have learned of this through Bios on her but have yet to actually find sources from that time.
Lorraine, in her older years was a friend of my family. So, I thought I'd share a few things she told us...Over New Years Day dinner, I looked at her and asked her, "Lorraine, did you ever dance with Fred Astaire?" Her eyes grew big and she said that she sure did! So of course I asked her what it was like, and she said "Dancing on clouds!" She also said Ann Miller's mother was sleeping with the director of a movie she was in and gave Ann the part she was supposed to get.
I am so glad to learn of these small memories of Lorraine. I have been collecting her memorabilia and movies for years. I have acquired some very old photos of her taken by a photo or modeling studio. I also have some photos she apparently sent to her father along with very loving notes written on the photos. I have several interesting photos and mag articles as well as some of her early movies stills.
That looks like Martha Tilton at 1:36? I've been looking for the whole movie for a few weeks. Lorraine Krueger always looks like she could give Fred Astaire a run for his money. Fantastic video thanks for posting.

You are indeed correct that it is Martha Tilton; I thought so too and checked the Internet Movie Database to be sure; turns out we're right! :)
