@AVD072 You are confusing Religion with Sciences. Neither Christianity, Islam or Hinduism can claim their contributions to Sciences and Mathematics. These are subjects of Thought and Logic and have nothing to do with Religion or Culture.
Also, I wish you used more appropriate words instead of offensive words. Don't forget that it took Foreign Invaders, British to unite India otherwise, India would still have been a Collection of Small Empires. You need to look at things more positively :)
Ashoka did not care as much for his descendants as he did for his subjects.Same can be said about Rais,Wodeyars,Guptas,Nandas etc..This turned out to be heir undoing and our misfortune. An India with an emperor would be a true superpower today. We have destroyed our establishment.Modernise NOT westernise.Guys look at Meiji Japan if you know what I mean. Why do the Brits still take allegiance at/for the crown?Emperors stay not so for politicians. They run once they have lined their inners.Cheers !!!!
@cillantro I disagree. Why are you so against West and Western Concepts ? A truly successful Nation in History is one that has borrows Ideas from all parts of the world. Don't we love enjoying Chinese, Italian or Western Food ? Why then must we limit our advancement while we can borrow concepts and ideas that work from all parts of the world ?
You ought to be Patriotic but not to the extent that it blinds you from appreciating other Cultures. Don't forget that India is a Land of Diversity.
@forgottenmemories63 Did'nt I just look upto the Brits(English) for protecting their culture?Did'nt I look upto the Greeks,Romans for their burning ambition?Did'nt I look upto the Germanics for their fierce independence?Did'nt I look upto the Dutch for their forward thinking and liberalism?Well you can say I did'nt,considering I have'nt mentioned all these things here.Where exactly did I say anything anti-west?
@s0ulfire how I see it is what goes up must come down, we had the wealth/power thousands of years ago, now the "whites" do even though I live in USA where whites are slowly becoming less of a majority, even in my city they arent the majority, the hispanics are....but the whites/european had their share of power, now I think someone else will, most likely the chinese, whatever it might be I think something "big" is about to happen in our life time(considering whoever reading this is <50)
Although as Indians feel proud to watch this bloody englishman talk about the history of India, they present false information. Distorted history by bloody britishers. Crooked englismen always distort history to suit their own agenda. Be careful whenever you watch these documentaries by BBC - Bloody British Corporations.
@HindusTheBest The British did in fact take out texts/history and disfigure it to suit their own needs. But this documentary was made in modern times. We should have revolted violently when British were ruling India. But if we followed a loser like Gandhi. Now Britain is not ruling India - why then the violent reaction towards British?
you fucking history was distorted... there was no alexander's succesor in India. Chandra Gupta defeated Alexander... fucking WEST, they always distort our history damnit... fuck yourself WHITE ppl,... you were never popular but hypocrites.
@tigersoup Ok British did distort Hindu history in the past. But why do you have to hate all of the West now? Many Western thinkers like Schrodinger, Schopenhauer, Goethe, Oppenheimer and even Einstein spoke very highly of Hindu texts like the Upanishads, Bhagvad Gita. Einstein even remarked 'When I read the Bhagavad-Gita and reflect about how God created this universe everything else seems so superfluous'. Statements like 'fucking WEST', 'fuck yourself WHITE ppl' are simply uncalled for.
@tigersoup Chandragupta Maurya never even met Alexander the Great. He defeated Seleukos I Nikator, the first ruler of the Seleukid Empire, one of Alexander's successor states, after which he allied with him.
@sd9m9 You could´ve said that without including any insults. What I meant to say was that he never met him in battle or even in negotiations as a ruler. Chandragupta´s reign started in 320 BC. Alexander the Great died in 323 BC. It is hard to wage war with someone who is dead.
This doesn´t mean Chandragupta couldn´t theoretically have met Alexander outside of combat, so perhaps I could´ve worded that a bit better, but there´s no way of knowing and it really isn´t that relevant.
@FreezingShock , There are different version of that history. In US, they paid millions of dollar in Washington DC to distort history. Alexandar was the greatest warrior and he gave words to his guru Socrates that he will win India too. He came here for that. Alexandar understood that it was impossible for him to fight against Indians that's why he left.
@ThinkingGuy100 Whatever. I grow tired of arguing with people who disregard historical fact. I shall end this debate by stating that Alexander did defeat Porus, but that you people are free to believe whatever makes you feel happy, as long as you do not become historians or history teachers.
@FreezingShock Porus was defeated...another fact is immediately after Alexander the ""great"" narrowly defeated Puru, who was merely a border cheiftain weaked by rebellious tribes to the south-west and persians to the north west, the army and the ""great"" man himself had apprehensions about their abilities to confront what lied ahead...the mighty Nanda empire...why else did alexander wait till winter? When troop motivation is high, its time to push forwards, not wait.Alex was trapped, plain n simple
