If the F-14 Tomcat wasn't retired, I would probably be in the Navy right now.
It was the best fighter/bomber in existance. Traveled at mach 2+, had 100 mile range pheonix missiles, AWG-9 Radar, Lantern system for the F-14B which could put a bomb through a window of a building, had double the fuel load of F/A-18's and could land and take off from a carrier. 2006 was a sad year for me. Rest In Peace our beloved F-14 Tomcat. I hope there isn't a day when lives are lost because we have her no more.

But yes within the NAVY i believe many transitioned to the Hornet/RHINO syllabus shortly after their specific squadron was either either disestablished or transitioned to an 18 variant.
This would never happen in the Air Force.

Generally that switch is more common for younger guys and front seaters. But yes within the NAVY i believe many transitioned to the Hornet/RHINO syllabus shortly after their specific squadron was either either disestablished or transitioned to an 18 variant.
