fucking love it, in the beginning as the bass starts it goes right with when Plant says "yooou" it's little shit like that, that goes a long, long way.
@MinariCapore I think you have that wrong. I'm pretty sure the mirror shattered in shock at the fact that Led Zeppelin was standing right infront of it, asking it a question. :) I would probably do the same.
a bloody superb song! my only complaint is that sometimes robert plant took his head away from the mic a bit too much and it didn't quite pick up some words.. but still bloody great
@jpd66 Yeah, there is real music, you just have to look for it, unfortunately. The corporate produced bullshit on TV & radio to brainwash our generation is "in"...don't forget the Floyd was using a gong in some of their stuff...if I remember "corrosion in the pink room" & live at Pompeii. and some other stuff.
This is definitely one of their best live performances. Sounds great, and it's not even in HD. Robert Plant could really sing live back then. And Jimmy Page was great on guitar, of course. Can't forget about John Paul and Bonham, either. The greatest band of all time.
damn my luck for being born in the wrong generation! That's it! Someone needs to invent a time machine and the first thing I'm doing is going back to see Zeppelin!!
i read that the media hated zeppelin, including the magazines, like Rolling Stone..and zep sold more albums after 1990, than they sold before 1990..this is amazing if you think about it, considering zep broke up for good in 1980
@dabadin Maybe too many different videos and any official one ,count all of their views and plus them if u want to have a bit fun. lol and remember we are in 2011 not in 1970 cause in the '70 with youtube im sure this video would have about 15 millions views and songs like heartbreaker whole lotta about 300 and 400 k and stairway of the iv album i guess about 800 k :) just for some examples anyway its just TOO HARD to calculate that. JUST GET FOCUS ON THE MUSIC not the views , they are secondary
That's a Page trademark. He usually controlled his distortion with his volume knob. It makes more sense since his tone wasn't affected by a pedal...he's basically overdriving his amp...pure distortion..and when you have a Les Paul and a Marshall...nothing is better
@phillyac yeah you are correct. I actually do the same thing with my sg and marshall amp. The use of the volume knob in this way really comes naturally. Sounds fantastic here.
I am 28 years old and started listening to them at 13, I would listen to my moms records when she left for work and hope I didn't blow the speakers;) I am in love with them still, my 2 year old daughter likes them too. We listen to this on dark car rides with glow bracelets and jam. I love sharing this with my daughter, she is going to kindergarten in a Led Zeppelin t-shirt!
ive always hated pop music today. since i discovered Led Zeppelin when i was 13 (3 years ago) ive been hooked. i just always heard of them and wondered what was so special. then i found my dads collection of LZ II, IV and houses, ive loved them with all my heart. rock band couldnt get their songs even if they tried anyways. @wirymo not even then. when that adam lambert piece of shit tried to sing whole lotta love, i died alot inside. they always screw these awesome songs up.
the young zepp were the best. That's why this concert ruled. This was 1970. They always put out awesome fucking albums, even in their later days,,, but after 1975, their live concerts sucked. Why? DRUGS.
@BeyondNeptune I'm going to start this by saying I do not condone the use of drugs at all. But you cannot say their live concerts sucked in their "later days". Let's be honest, closer to Bonham's death, the band was having issues with each other anyway. Is that all you think of Zeppelin (that they were just drug addicts?) How dare you sir.
@BeyondNeptune you are exactly right.........they sucked big time in concert in the late seventies...drugs..yep probably or just losing interest..probably a combo of both

I know they really couldnt play that song live cuz they said they just couldnt get the sound like they recorded in the studio. What a shame, beautiful song.

What else is there to say about Led Zeppelin THAT HASN'T BEEN SAID BEFORE? This is the true sound of rock. When I see their viedos I'm so dazed and I feel the happeiness.
I get chills every time I hear this song. Just listen to the sweet bass lines and smooth vocals that lead to the power unleashed in the chorus and how it slides back and forth with the lead guitar. When I was a wee tyke, I never knew there were only three musicians in this band. There was too much sound and intricacies for only three. And the vocals...
@dkbales I've always thought the same thing, the sound that is produced with just the hands and feet of three guys is truly staggering. They were able to match the dynamic power and subtle intricacies of an ENTIRE symphony orchestra, It's just.... incredible.
@jroxx11211 Whoa... Read, don't react. I didn't say 3 guys, I said three musicians and separated out the vocals for those who would say the voice is an instrument. Yes, four outstanding talents, only three known for playing a non-human instrument.
@dkbales ok, sorry bro, but i know a few singers who would be mad to hear someone say their voice is not an instrument, actually its the purest one, it totally comes from within and can be played anywhere by almost anyone, but hey, i totally agree, zeppelin is the greatest band that ever was or ever will be. i got to see them opening night at the garden in n.y. when i was 16 on 6/7/77, definitely the best concert of my life, and ive seen over 200 shows from ;77 till now. LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL
@jroxx11211 I understand. I guess I couldn't find the best way to clarify the instrumental music and the vocals. I agree that vocals are an instrument. I am just amazed at the amount of music from such a small number of performers. We are around the same age but I never had the privilege you had to hear them live.
My son is a bass player and John Paul Jones is one of his idols. He leads off with any Led bass line and he finds out what R&R singers may be around! I always believe in the classics
@dkbales I guess if your gonna have a musical idol, JPJ is definitely one of the best, but i hope hes heard chris squire and john entwhistle too, the bass line in the who's can you see the real me is the baddest bass line ever laid down, that song blows me away, i play guitar, so im into musicality too. boy, we were sure lucky to grow up in the 60s n 70s, the music was the best there ever was!!!
@jroxx11211 Oh yes, he knows Entwhistle. I couldn't get him to listen to Zeppelin because of Entwhistle. I made him and his brother listen to Zeppelin and they couldn't stand them. Then again I think they were 10 and 7 at the time. He found Entwhistle on his own later and the music of Zeppelin finally convinced him that I wasn't that crazy for a dad.

Then again I think they were 10 and 7 at the time. He found Entwhistle on his own later and the music of Zeppelin finally convinced him that I wasn't that crazy for a dad.
@dkbales Its funny, the kids today have no clue, unless they hear a song on american idol or guitar hero, they would never know real music, when i was a kid, i knew about music from the 50s, the great ones, chuck berry, elvis, buddy holly, they invented rock n roll and influenced the stones, the who and zeppelin and everyone else, too bad kids nowadays dont explore the roots more, youtube helps alot, they need to open their minds and see where rock came from!!!
@jroxx11211 Led Zeppelin is my favorite band and I'm 13 and my friends and I all like classic rock, it's our favorite music. I don't think old people have a clue about how many young people do have good taste in music. They just don't parade it around as much. My friends and I all know how to play all of Page's riffs and all the words. Young people do like classic rock, get it right. And NO I DIDN'T HEAR IT ON GUITAR HERO OR AMERICAN IDOL!
@MyBlacksunny RELAX BOY, thats great your into classic rock, alot of kids I KNOW arent into it, and theres nothing wrong with parading it around,. I SAW ZEPPELIN HERE IN NEW YORK AT THE GARDEN ON OPENING NIGHT 6/7/77, it was the greatest concert of my life and im lucky and proud to say that! i also saw page with THE FIRM and THE BLACK CROWES, and i saw PLANT, solo 3 times, so i know a little of what im talking about, i play smoking guitar because i saw the man himself play 3 feet away from me!!!
@MyBlacksunny he was my inspiration to play the guitar and hes still my idol to this day, i even met him at ricks bar in key west in'98, he walked into the bar drunk, sat down n passed out for about an hour and a half while his bodyguard kept everybody away, then he woke up, jumped up on the stage while this bullshit bar band was playing and jammed a couple of songs with them, then jumped off the stage, shook a few peoples hands and walked out, i was one of the people to shake his hand, FUCKIN A
@MyBlacksunny he was my inspiration to play the guitar and hes still my idol to this day, i even met him at ricks bar in key west in'98, he walked into the bar drunk, sat down n passed out for about an hour and a half while his bodyguard kept everybody away, then he woke up, jumped up on the stage while this bullshit bar band was playing and jammed a couple of songs with them, then jumped off the stage, shook a few peoples hands and walked out, i was one of the people to shake his hand, HELL YA
@MyBlacksunny You say you have good taste in music, do you know REAL ROCK N ROLL? who influenced page? gene vincent, scotty moore, robert johnson, bukka white, willie dixon, old blues men from the 30s n 40s, plus the pioneers of rock from the 50s, thats where rock n roll was born, elvis's guitar player, scotty moore was one of pages favorites, you probably never even heard of him, robert johnson, who sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads to play the guitar, know him? i bet not, look it up
When Jimmy Page first heard about Robert Plant, someone told him, "Jimmy, you've got to see this guy; he looks like a greek god and he has lungs of steel"
I never understood what he meant until I watched all the available content of this concert
@gnayiew95 part of the reason, as a 15 year old kid, that i love this music so much, is because its something that i alone appreciate more than anyone i know. it makes me feel like i have an upper hand. then we get these young teenie bopper kids looking up songs because they heard it on american idol or guitar hero, and, quite frankly, it pisses me off
@LeFtNuT2o6 Hey man, dont get pissed off, music is for everybody, so what if they dont get it like you do, at least you have an open mind and can appreciate older music that your friends might not know, you should turn them on to it, and they would really look up to you, music isnt a competition, its the one language everyone in the world understands, i saw zeppelin at the garden in n.y, when i was 16 back in 1977 and im still listening to it and turning people onto it when i can, ROCK ON!!!!
haha i love their outfits... only true guitarists rock out in dress shirts, vests, and jeans worn above the belt buckle... has been, is, and forever will be my favorite band of all time
Gotta post on this ... Never saw zep live, broke up before I could get there ... saw the Who and Clash play Shea ... The Wall ... Yes in the round ... and tons more .... Saw this coverd on Idol and I will say it was covered by somebody who knew the song and did it justice .... You dont compare it to Zep but you appreciate that a 20 y/o chick who looks like a pop queens did the song right ... She knew who and what she was covering ...It was a good version of the song ...
@ThEsToVeIsOn Yessssssss he is!!!!!!!!!!!!. JPJ's was a composer. He challenged Bonham all the time. If u watch The Song Remains the Same during Dazed and Confuzed Jonsey walks over to Bonzo and signals him to follow his bass, but Bonham, being shy as hell gesters "no", but he know jones is brilliant and follows as they make amazing music together, right there live.............
@kat1york JPJ was the backbone of zeppelin, everybody thinks it was bonzo, who was gigantic! but JPJ played guitar, keyboards, mandolin, vibes, plus writing, singing backup, orchestrating and everything else he never got credit for. it was pages band, and rightly so, but JPJ added so much dimension to the band, it wouldnt have been led zeppelin without him!!!
...best band ever by far!! No need for for yank idol trash talk on this one!! Led Zeppelin simply are the greatest rock band ever!! Fuck off american idol, you are not fit to lace Jimmy Pages drinks !!
I have been a Zeppelin fan since I was ten, but I have no problem admitting that I really enjoyed Haley Reinhart's version. It almost (that's Almost) got me to forgive them for the ATROCIOUS version of Stairway to Heaven they performed last year on Idol Gives back
I knew this before American Idol...but I mean Haley is one of the only girls, let alone people to have ever been allowed to cover Led Zeppelin...and she nailed it. She earned herself a record deal.
@samg12316 i love that you actually respect the other artist instead of just blowing them off without a second thought. i love the way u think man more power to you!
I did like the Haley Reinhart version of this song on AI.... BUT come on this is Zeppelin why are we comparing them to anything on American Idol!!!! If you are, then you are not a fan of one of the best bands ever!!!!!
thanks american idol now because of you everytime i listen to this of the CD my sister and all her little friends come in and start askin if i like that god awful show. happens everytime.
This song always takes me back. And every time it does it seems like I was stoned.

MyBlacksunny 4 months ago
@MyBlacksunny RELAX BOY, thats great your into classic rock, alot of kids I KNOW arent into it, and theres nothing wrong with parading it around,. I SAW ZEPPELIN HERE IN NEW YORK AT THE GARDEN ON OPENING NIGHT 6/7/77, it was the greatest concert of my life and im lucky and proud to say that! i also saw page with THE FIRM and THE BLACK CROWES, and i saw PLANT, solo 3 times, so i know a little of what im talking about, i play smoking guitar because i saw the man himself play 3 feet away from me!!!
jroxx11211 4 months ago
@MyBlacksunny he was my inspiration to play the guitar and hes still my idol to this day, i even met him at ricks bar in key west in'98, he walked into the bar drunk, sat down n passed out for about an hour and a half while his bodyguard kept everybody away, then he woke up, jumped up on the stage while this bullshit bar band was playing and jammed a couple of songs with them, then jumped off the stage, shook a few peoples hands and walked out, i was one of the people to shake his hand, FUCKIN A

@gnayiew95 part of the reason, as a 15 year old kid, that i love this music so much, is because its something that i alone appreciate more than anyone i know. it makes me feel like i have an upper hand. then we get these young teenie bopper kids looking up songs because they heard it on american idol or guitar hero, and, quite frankly, it pisses me off
LeFtNuT2o6 5 months ago
@LeFtNuT2o6 Hey man, dont get pissed off, music is for everybody, so what if they dont get it like you do, at least you have an open mind and can appreciate older music that your friends might not know, you should turn them on to it, and they would really look up to you, music isnt a competition, its the one language everyone in the world understands, i saw zeppelin at the garden in n.y, when i was 16 back in 1977 and im still listening to it and turning people onto it when i can, ROCK ON!!!!
jroxx11211 4 months ago

Gotta post on this ... Never saw zep live, broke up before I could get there ... saw the Who and Clash play Shea ... The Wall ... Yes in the round ... and tons more .... Saw this coverd on Idol and I will say it was covered by somebody who knew the song and did it justice .... You dont compare it to Zep but you appreciate that a 20 y/o chick who looks like a pop queens did the song right ... She knew who and what she was covering ...It was a good version of the song ...

@ThEsToVeIsOn this song and ramble on, grooooooovy is a good word, but funk master is better.
fancyfripouille 3 months ago
@ThEsToVeIsOn Yessssssss he is!!!!!!!!!!!!. JPJ's was a composer. He challenged Bonham all the time. If u watch The Song Remains the Same during Dazed and Confuzed Jonsey walks over to Bonzo and signals him to follow his bass, but Bonham, being shy as hell gesters "no", but he know jones is brilliant and follows as they make amazing music together, right there live.............
kat1york 3 months ago
@kat1york JPJ was the backbone of zeppelin, everybody thinks it was bonzo, who was gigantic! but JPJ played guitar, keyboards, mandolin, vibes, plus writing, singing backup, orchestrating and everything else he never got credit for. it was pages band, and rightly so, but JPJ added so much dimension to the band, it wouldnt have been led zeppelin without him!!!
jroxx11211 3 months ago

I have been a Zeppelin fan since I was ten, but I have no problem admitting that I really enjoyed Haley Reinhart's version. It almost (that's Almost) got me to forgive them for the ATROCIOUS version of Stairway to Heaven they performed last year on Idol Gives back
