  • cooooooooooooool

  • last time my 3 turtles ran off but i found them near my rose bushes do you think its a good idea to put a small fence around my pond?

  • great pond! I wish i had a house with big yard and a pond like this... well, impossible in japan!

  • Hey i love the pond. i was just wondering what types of plants are bad for turtles to put around my pond.

  • @sykes54321 yeah thats true

  • Nice back how long did that take u and how much money did it take to do that

  • turtle heaven

  • how many turtles are there

  • Sweet pond check out mine!

  • Can u put a big turtle with the little ones???

  • When I had turtles before I released them into the ocean, they would go up onto their rock in their tank and do backflips into the water. XDXDXD

  • Thanks for the great video Ponddigger. I have a question. Does the pond need a heater? I live south of san francisco and I'm not sure if I need a heater for my turtles. Anyone have advice?

  • can a red eared slider breathe or sleep underwater

  • Thank god my RES is only 3....I have plenty of time to make him a awesome pond! Great pond!

  • Nice job! Looks like turtle heaven!

  • This is so good!! Any tips for me? I live in an apartment and got 2 red eared slider turtles. any advice how I can create a proper habitat for them in an aquarium? and what to feed them? they don't touch any veggies. I tried feeding them fish and they have that. What else can I feed them?

  • How much is this?!! I have a small baby turtle and I want the best for him!

  • Wow! What an elaborate set-up! The turtles look very happy but I would still feel uneasy about keeping them captive. I live near the woods so now & then a large turtle makes its way onto my back deck. They look at me as if to say; "oh, and who might you be?" LOL. But instead of keeping them I carry them back into the deep woods and let them go. Like every other living creature they just want to be free...

  • 7.58 he is like; "why hellloooo :D" lol

  • I wounder what do they do when winter comes ...

  • how to you stop them from trying to eat fish

  • how you controll the temperature in a pond?

  • 8:01 Turtle " i want to be a star!"

  • is it normal for a turtle to sunbave belly side up its a baby so when i got near it got scared and turned aroung and jumped into the water XD

  • @cips850 It is not healthy for a turtle to be flipped over. If it can't get up it will suffocate and die. If it keeps flipping over try to find out why. Turtles must remain un-flipped. Even though it can un-flip itself, it could harm it. I hope this helps a little ~Turtle Lover Icy

  • @IceyCat134 tnx for reply but they havnt seemed so have done that anymore =P thankgod i got really scared when i saw it like that =(

  • its paradise for turtles :D

  • thas is so cool

  • Turtles are beast!!

  • I had 3 little red-eared sliders...they loved cut up hot dogs!!

  • at 3:04 the turles head is stuck and hes like why did i jump ooh a worm

  • Awsome that wuz a badass set up

  • Im building my pond but its right next to my pool. Do you think the turtles will go into the pool?

  • 3:59 looks like that turtle is having fun :)

  • @jonas4ever97 Turtles have tons of fun in this pond.

  • @jonas4ever97 a lotta fun!

  • The rocks look a little tall n cramped at places, n it was quite a hard fall one of the turtles took.. overall i think it's a great video.. N a great place!

  • When the PondDigger asks him, "What have you done to your pond to protect them (The Turtles) from Predators?", I thought the Turtle Master was going to direct him towards a Guard Tower fully equipped with Gatling Guns, Flame Throwers, RPG, etc…..

  • i sure wish i were that turtle

  • @MairacleMaker10 Exciting News! Mike found a clutch of 14 BABY RED EARED SLIDERS when he was planting a new exotic plant in his yard last weekend!

  • Do you always need a cover for ponds. Are just have the basking spot close to the water so turtles can just slip in.

  • @shatterstarbox This pond doesn't have a cover but has a ton of great basking spots for the turtles.

  • did he build this himself ?

  • @MrChucknorris98 Mike did build most of this pond himself. We did come in and help him rock the pond in and build waterfalls.

  • Are those red ear slider turtles because I have a red ear slider for about two years.

  • Do they ever escape

  • @dmccoy97 Mike has his yard completely sealed off so now turtles wonder off the property.

  • That... is a badass turtle pond.

  • i need help with my baby turtle is it cool if they are in the water al the time they r in thee cage

but i dont have a pond or anything so yea

  • Beautiful!

  • 3:00 OUCH!!!

  • i'd love to be a turtle in this pond

  • Do the fishes fight with the turtles and have the turtles eaten a fish ?

  • @KarlaCervantes89 No; the fish are to big for the turtle to eat. both of these species here (Goldfish, koi, and Red eared sliders) are very peaceful types. They have no reason to fight; not to mention, goldfish don't have teeth. They eat the same food as well. Generally, a turtle will not eat or try to eat something that is over 3 x's the size of it's head unless it is being starved. In this situation, there is no lack of food.

  • Red eared sliders make great pets! I have a red foot tortoise now, and she has a terrific personality. I have an outdoor pen for her in the summer, but I could use some ideas for the long cold winter months when she has to stay inside.

  • @marciacornute OK COOL :)

  • @sscurlyfries76 Thanks for leaving a comment, but i really need ideas- my girl loves going outside-she is 3 yrs old. She is bored all winter. I've even thought of moving south

  • How do turtles get cold wen der cold blooded??!!

  • @sscurlyfries76 Basically the turtle's blood matches that of his environment. He climbs on a log suns himself and hit blood temp rises. He gets hot and he jumps back in the water and cools down lowering his blood temp to the water. In winter his blood temp drops to match the environment thus allowing him to hibernate.

  • @ThePondDigger My guess is for hibernating is that the turtles would dig holes and seal themselves inside then in the spring dig their way out.

  • @ThePondDigger You hibernate in the winter. Or do you have to take them in?

  • how much did you spent to make these pond? ????????

  • @maha14aizat He has in the neighborhood of 20k tied up into his pond.

  • 4:01 Slide!

  • this is so relaxing...

  • You used up all of your backyard just to have a turtle pond>

  • @TheBagBalm That was his desire.

  • 3:56 lol

  • We all know Turtles are reptiles.

  • im gettin a red eared slider next week

    thanks for the tips

  • one question what if someone comes into my yard and steals my turtleÉO.o

  • could you swim in there

  • what kind of fish was that at 6:55

  • those turtles arnt spoiled ur just a bad pet owner

  • @kellykellzlovesyou

Gee, only took ya a month to say something that offers nothing to this debate.

  • I have one res right now in a turtle tub, I hope to build a pond similar to this one in the near future. Check out my turtle tub set up.

  • LOL " Yeah i built a grate like this right here." *audience slowly watches as turtle swims for his life away from the skimmer the guy pulled off*

  • what a backyard...

  • Those turtles aren't lazy. They're smart!

  • @GwynnbrookFarm Yeah the turtles in this video are smart and SPOILED!

  • @ThePondDigger I have a question... before I build a pond, I'm afraid if I put my two adult RES in the pond, will the birds get them?

  • @GwynnbrookFarm duh thats how the turtle beat the hare

  • how much was it

  • you shoould do a upsadte on this!!

  • So what are those turtles called? Theres alot in my neighborhood pond.

  • @ViLexCaLi Red eared sliders.

  • 3:03 CL-CL-CLUNK

I only saw red eared sliders! He should add some other varieties, like painteds!

  • @321Bizzare Yes I would love to see some painted turtles in this pond but the sliders dominate this backyard.

  • @321Bizzare That is because Red eared sliders are the most common and most popular type of turtles for people to have as pets.

  • @nschario My point! a huge, massive, intricately designed pond for the most common turtle there is? Variety is the spice of life; therefore, he should ad some less common turtles.

  • @321Bizzare Mike does have a couple other species of turtles in the pond but the are very shy by comparison. They are out shined by the personalities of the Red Eared Sliders.....

  • @ThePondDigger oh; ok. None in the video, though :( Thanks for the info, anyways =)

  • @ThePondDigger When i build my turtle pond. I am planning on doing all red eared sliders. Because the are the most common type to be kept. But what's your advice for species of turtles?

  • thanks for the help ,keep up the good work thanks again.

  • @dogheartchucky902 Helping is our goal so no need for thanks but we do appreciate the feedback!

  • i have a question, my friends brother is giving him a turtle he can't take care of anymore, it was raised in an aquarium he offered it to me but i dont have enough room in my housewe want to make a turtle pond a cheap one we dont want to spend much money on this, we don't have money to spare, we want to make a cheap convenient pond. also that is a place were mosquito's breed and we want to keep it there, so we want to keep it there i want to keep my 19 frogs there 2 bull frogs rest are leopard

  • hi there. Im feeling sorry for my turtle because he lives in a small aquarium for most his life. Im thinking of letting him go where we got him because hes from the wild. His water is shallow and one time i let him go in deep water and he just sank. I feel like he will drown. I really like him but i feel like he deserves better. I don't know if he will eat wild fish or insects but he ate my fish once. Do u have any suggestions?

  • @Sugarplume5 Just letting the turtle go in the wild isn't necessarily the best thing for the turtle. You might be better off finding someone who loves turtles in your community and donating it to them.

  • @Sugarplume5 when it gets bigger, let it go. some babies will just die. do the best to make him feel like in the wild. some animals that are kept in captivity will die in the wild because in captivity, they didnt learn how to live in the wild like feeding. turtles will feed in an aquarium and not hunt.

  • its a cool pond, but they have pretty dramatic falls lol

  • That guy doesn't know a whole lot about turtles. No mention of UV requirements for the turtles or the fact they need to heat up to properly digest food. Nope, he makes up a "fact" that they need to bask during the daytime so they can sleep at night. FAIL.

  • @codeythesilent Hey Codeythesilent, I have to stand up for Mike on this one. The truth is Mike was super nervous on film and couldn't articulate his message the way he wanted to. The fact of the matter is Mike is a genuine guy that is in love with his pond reptiles. He's forgot more about these amazing reptiles than most people would even consider learning. Peace.....

  • @codeythesilent Why would they need additional UV light when they are -outside-?

  • @SupraJulie

You obviously misunderstood what I said. I -said- that he made no mention of the sun's effect on the turtle as far as UV requirements (To produce vitamin D3 in order to use calcium) or aid to digestion (takes a warm turtle to digest food), but instead makes a claim that it helps the turtle "to sleep at night". Which is total BS by the way.

  • @codeythesilent The video is five construction tips and tricks for turtle ponds. As you well know there are piles of things you need to understand for the total care and maintenance of these amazing reptiles. Maybe you misunderstood me. I was trying to explain that Mike was simply to nervous to articulate the specific need for basking correctly because the glowing red light of the camera. Basking is critical, we know this. Point made in the video. Respectfully - Eric Triplett, The Pond Digger

  • @ThePondDigger Are there any other type turtle used for a turtle pond or is pretty much all red eared sliders?

  • @codeythesilent ur an ass alright this guy knows about turtles, stop keeping turtles in tanks u cheap ass get he knows wat hes taking about u call keeping a turtle in a tank "Knowing about turtles". You can take ur uvb tube and shove it up ur ass this guy has the sun to fry yo fat ass.

  • @TheAsswhipe123

I'm an ass because I pointed out the fact that turtles need UVA and UVB? Because you know that they're tube lights, I'll assume you know a little bit about turtles. You should know that there's nothing wrong keeping turtles in tanks provided you have them in a large tank set up appropriately for the species. I know someone who has a 90 gallon tank with a snapper in it (only about 5 inches) (continues...)

  • lol at 3:58 to 4:03

  • lol, at 3:00 to 3:07.

  • how does he keep the pond clean

  • lol ouch faceplant @ 3:01

  • Wow, the turtles look healthy and happy.

  • @11wormbig If I was a turtle this is where I would want to live.

  • i have a pond i got 15 turtles so far

  • @MrMkwPRO It becomes and addiction!

  • seriously 15 people clicked on dislike?? whats not to like about this? i would love to sit it that garden an get stoned til i thought i was a turtle

  • @floyd83lfc Thanks for standing up for us!

  • @ThePondDigger Yeah, nice pond Dude, i wanna have a pond like that

  • @999hampe We all would like a pond like that. :)

  • i never knew turtles hibernate

  • @TheSomebody54 Information, Education & Inspiration! That's what we're here for!

  • @TheSomebody54 They don't they brumate ;)

  • how many months did it take to build?

  • @rmm1999pa This pond was actually and evolution that took several months. Mike did a ton of work on this pond by himself. The main body and waterfall on this pond was put together in just a couple days. The secondary waterfall and extension to the pond took another couple months to put together. Mike really took his time.

  • epic face plant!

  • 4:00 hes like WAA HOO BITCHESS!

  • 4:40 Im just gunna walk veeeery slowly....over....HA HAAAA!!! see ya suckers XD

  • i want to build a pond in my backyard at my farmhouse so should i put turtles or koi fish do they live together ...i live in india is there any problem during heavy rains or during extreme hot climate....

  • these turtles are living THE life! this dude is a beast! good job! nice commitment! :)

  • wow..those turtles really grow. Used to have 2 baby ones and they died a month after i got em...didnt know they grow so much. Do you know the name of the turtle...like type?

  • Curious turtles. :3

  • They wait for food near the skimmer because they're "lazy"? Um, maybe they're actualy quite intelligent.

  • Do you keep frogs as well? This is really nice!

  • @YuyuGDL The frogs don't do well in this yard. Just too many turtles eating the tadpoles! Typically we do have tree frogs and toads that like to visit many of our ponds.

  • i got a baby turtle now but it wont climb on the land do i got to worry?

  • @ShinyHunterExtreme Make sure he's big enough to haul himself (or herself) out of the water and onto the designated land area. It will need places to grip and pull like rock climbing. Or a ramp.

  • Great video. I've read several comments with people's concerns of how the turtles might attack smaller fish. Seems as though these turtles like the path of least resistance as shown in how they hang out by the skimmer and wait for the food to come to them. I wonder if this owner has a problem with his turtles attacking fish? Maybe not. Really informative video. thanks.

  • la mansion de las tortugas ninjas jeje

  • Hey, nice pond and video! Just wondering though, how do the turtles survive in winter? Do you take them out and keep them indoors?

  • @slicks105 Our winters here in Southern California a very mild so these turtles live in the pond year round like spoiled little children. They chase Mike all around the yard begging for food. He can't pull a weed without a slider at his feet! It's a real oasis for the turtles.

  • 4:01...weeeee!!

  • omg this pond is freaken awesome!! i would totally want to live there if i was a turtle!

  • Awesome design and concept!

But I have a problem of buying a pet that can out live me lol

  • @ClstlSamurai101 Yeah it's crazy buying pets that you need to pass down to your kids when you kick the bucket!

  • Hello! It's wonderful, but could you write down in English the tips shared in the video please, because I'm not a native English speaker and I cannot understand perfectly at listening. You could write it in the description of your video for example. It would be much appreciated! Thank you very much! Friendly

  • @NeptunianAngel make sure your skimmer is safe for turtles, screen in front..have area for turtles to lay there eggs..place for them to bask (sit in sun)..places to hide in water from predators..make sure they cant dig or climb out of your yard or pond area..

  • when i grow up, im definitely will have a turtle pond on my home! i promise that to myself. :3

  • I am happily married. And since you mention it, the only thing uglier than your turtles is your women. Please keep them all in your own country.

  • @mrjon75 wtf? U R DUMB! they r res (red eared sliders) they r native to USA. also don't judge *racist*

  • Awesome pond! Great video!

  • For such an expensive looking pond design, i would suggest getting a a much better type of turtle. Not looking down on sliders but just saying. . Its like a 100k pond with a $3 PET. You could place several mata mata turtles there. From the size of that place, I would also suggest some tortoises such as sulcatas.

  • @oneyedthing That's stupid. Why put smelly alien turtles who are lazy in place of good American turtles?

  • @mrjon75

Nope. You are stupid. For a 35 year old man, you should be soing something else rather than trolling youtube videos comments. Quit acting like a 5 year old kid and do your research.
