  • I love how you can save money and make your own gradient with white and black...the articles in fashion mags were saying to buy 5 different gradient colors!! And since I always use Essie, I knew I wasn't going to spend ALL that money!! I meet with clients daily, so I couldn't do crazy colors (saved for a weekend) so I did it with Taupe as my main color...so it went from white chocolate to a gorgeous milk chocolate. It was gorgeous and even my CEOS wife complimented me on my nails!

  • Love it. I can't wait to give it a try. Thanks!

  • me and my friend just did this we love it!

  • This reminds me of the value/tint assignment of colors I did in Art Class! Love it!! I'm sure if I do this, my art teacher will be very impressed.

  • @caroldiego Thank you for removing this. If you hadn't, I would have because it was just outright rude. If you are indeed 62 as your profile states then please act your age. Respect is not given, it is earned.

  • ooo.... i like this i cant wait to try it

  • So as i said in another comment I am sporting this look right now, and I am going to be honest after I got all done I didn't know if I liked it. Been about a day( i painted them before bed) and I LOVE IT! I used OPI's opi red, which unfortunately i think was a bad choice, the red on the light sode is a cute like strawberry pink but on the dark side it turns to like a browny burgundy. So def a different color next time:) Thanks for the fun video:)

  • Love this, definitely going to try it soon!

Where do you buy your Misa? I don't know of any retailers/salons that sell it around here!

  • I actually purchased it online! I'll message you the link since I can't post it here.

  • awesome job like always

  • I love this nail look, and ur tutorials are great!! I have a question about the top coat u use, what do u think of the warning label on it? I have it and it's amazing, but the warning label freaks me out a bit!!

  • I've thought about it and read a lot of forums which discuss it and here's what I've learned:

    1. If discussed with your doctor, he/she will give you the go ahead to use it so long as you are in a well ventilated room (from other peoples experience)

    2. You should always be in a well ventilated room when you apply any nail polish.

    3. So therefore the warning is just there to ensure safe use of the product.

It did freak me out a litte too until I google searched it. HTH

  • I think this method is great, better than adding white to a very dark colour. Both colours look great on your beautiful nails!

And now I *need* Dirty, Sexy Money :D

  • I love this ! I can't wait to try it. I wonder if this would would work if the polish has glitter in it?

  • ooooooh its different and interesting i like it

  • I tried ombre manicure last night because I was playing sports, my nail chipped(it was long and pretty :( and so i cut all of my nails short, then I did a ombre manicure similar to the colours you used! i think it looks really cute on short nails!

  • i dont like it sorry i usally love your vids

  • I guess I can't win them all.

  • Thanks for sharing but this look is one that I just don't really get...not my fav. but I do like the colors you put together. :-)

  • Love your hair!

  • I agree. Its very casual sexy. I have no clue how to do my hair like that lol.

  • Thanks! It was a litte fuzzy though!

  • amazing! i will try it soon :)) thank you

  • Beautiful effect. Seems a bit time consuming for me. But very classy!

  • It really didn't take that long!

  • Lol. I know. You have great nails. Perfect length and shape. I bought the top coat you use and LOVE it. It has a strong smell, but it really works great. I have three very BUSY kids so it just seemed like alot of steps for me. Very unique finish with that technique though.

  • love it girl! when i saw ur pic i thought you meant to have 5 diff shades! hahaa. i need to like place an OPI order or something to get a good white/black. what are your fave black and white polishes that are really opaque?

  • If you just want it for mixing the China Glaze White on White and Liquid Leather work well. If you want a white and a black to paint you nails I like OPI Alpine Snow and the Zoya Raven!

  • So neat! Thank you for sharing :)

  • Thank you for watching!

  • i love this trend! ive wanted to try it for a while now but i just didnt know where to start. i thought i needed 5 different bottles of similar colour, it never occured to me to mix the colours. brilliant! lol

  • I loove this! I think I'm going to do it with spontaneous! Thanks!

  • I loved it with Spontaneous!

  • i really like this :) i didn't know this actually had a name ;) I recently did this with blue and added a black skyline so it looked as if the sky got brighter from night to day (hope you know what i mean ^^)

i really enjoy watching you videos :) thanks for all the inspiration :D

    greetings from Germany :)

  • I totally understand what you mean! Sounds like it would be a cool effect!

  • I tried to do this last Sunday but I had to take it off because I got SO MUCH bubbling. Probably because I had to go really fast... D:

  • love this!!! gonna try redish/pink for vday :]

  • Great idea!

  • omg, I LOVE this! I'm definitely going to try it!

  • This is a great idea! I totally want to try this with tons of colours! So many ideas...:)

  • I love how it is so versitile!

  • this trend is so neat, but i dont know if i have the patience to do it LOL

  • It really isn't all to time consuming!

  • ohh ok! i'll try that thanks! :D love ur trick..much easy to understand than seventeen's to be honest

  • Well thank you!

  • they use a dark and light..idk..

  • I mean fade from like a chrome yellow to a banana yellow. Or use a deeper yellow and only add white to it, lightening it gradually for each nail.

  • im wondering..what about light colors like yellow? i mean if i tell my friend about this and she wants to try it she might wanna use yellow..

  • check out the video link in the sidebar for the "Seventeen Video". That method would probably work better. Alllaqueredup(dot)com also has a great method (just learned that from a poster below).

  • awesoem~i like the cool green one...really nice....I like nails with one color better than too much design on them,..do you know how to paint nails to make fingers look longer and skinnier???

  • My last video (Painting your nails is as easy as 1, 2, 3) shows how to create a space around your cuticle. I find that method to really lengthen my nails (and by extension your fingers). I don't however know how to make them look thinner. I'll have to do a little research on that one!

  • thank you^^ I watched that one but never tried....so i didnt know that way can lengthen fingers..im gona try that out !

  • where did you get your dotting tool? where do u reccomend getting one?

  • The one that I am using in this video is from transdesign(dot)com (really inexpensive $1.35) but, you can get dotting tools at head2toebeauty(dot)com, 8ty8beauty(dot)com and even your local sally's. I don't think any one site/store is better than the other though. I usually just choose the one with the cheapest shipping at the time.

Side note: if you search for dotting tool on ebay there is a seller that sells a set of 5 tools for $4. Now they all share one common size dotter but still a deal.

  • i was wondering if there was any polishes that worked better than other like cream or glitter

  • Great question! I used a cream and honestly I think it would be the best option. Shimmers tend to be more sheer which would require more coats and glitters wouldn't mix properly with a white or black polish. HTH

  • also how do you clean the brush between uses?

  • I dipped it in clear nail polish then wiped it on a paper towel. I'd recommend a cheapy clear polish for this part. I've used this one for about three of these mani's and I'd say it's good for 1 more.

  • I've done this before but not like this. I tried it the way alllacqueredup did it with two contrasting colors (which I love) but i think i want to try this way to see how it turns out.

  • I'm gonna go look that up...

  • i love it! i watched the ombre manicure and i loved it! i wanna do this on my nails tomorrow! what color should i use?

  • I really liked the way that purples looked!
