I have been pretty unhappy with a lot of scanners: connect slow, scan slow, poor software, etc. I have had this s1500 for 2 years and it is honestly the best scanner I have owned. I am archiving all my old files to free up physically storaging & getting rid of cabinets instead of buying more. I'm buying another one for a different location. It works so well/quickly you'll want to scan everything. If you are seriously looking to digitize quickly and easily, this is really worth every penny, IMHO.
They are nice but all scanners are really overpriced. I've been fixing office equipment for years and I can't tell you how many people don't use the scan functions on their printers/copiers that come with the printer/copier. Most of them also have more function capabilities such as emailing, scan to folder/server, etc.
All the scanner manufacturers think they came up with something cool with automatic original rotation and detection...copiers have had it for about two decades now.
I know what you are asking, "why should I pay $500 for a scanner?" Let me tell you. It is worth every penny. This high speed scan scans 20 pages per minute single or double sided (making it like 40 pages per minute double sided),
It performs as advertised. It has saved my wife hours of photocopying and organizational time.

This seems more like a BS infomercial instead of an honest review.

You really need a new camera person; one that knows how to hold one steady without the constant jumping around.

Simplicity is an important point. I have a Fujitsu S300 and it is awesome.
