Pure catastrophy that Chris Nolan wasn't even nominated for directing. Inception is a groundbreaking movie, and I wonder have incredibel a movie he has to do to be nominated or even win. Maybe he needs to do one with a little budget instead. It seems that it hurts your chances if you create a huge blockbuster. That's a big ghange because in '98 Titanic won inspite that Good Will Hunting had a better story.

It was so well shot, and the movie wouldn't have worked and Nina's psychological breakdown wouldn't have made sense because the camera was always centered on her so you never knew if it was real or not. I would love to see Aronofsky winning, but I am almost certain Hooper will get it. Almost every single shot in The King's Speech was like a painting from the WW2 era. He managed to capture the social identities and conservatism of the time almost perfectly.

I think Tom Hooper is going to win Best Directing for The King's Speech. The movie has won the Producers Guild, the Directors Guild, and the Actors Guild Awards. I think David Fincher should win for The Social Network, but The King's Speech has a lot more momentum of late. You can never count out the Weinsteins'.

My biggest problem with the academy awards now is that the 5 director nominees are pretty much the films that would be nominated for best picture if there were still only 5 slots.
