That's the aileron. It's used in conjunction with spoilers (in sharp banks/turns) to bank the aircraft left or right, but the 747 is the only plane with ailerons between the flaps...
Ummm, no, my dad works for Delta, and he says you are allowed to have anything that doesn't send or recieve a wireless signal, I have also seen videos of pilots who video their landing and takeoffs from the cockpit, so yes, you can.
I think the spoilers might have opened automaticly (Or however you spell it) because of the timing on them. Although he did flare alot. well whatever I guess I'm just thinking out loud. He still did good landing it though! :)Nice Video! :)

Then you know nothing about modern jet airliners. The "pilots" are basically computer babysitters. The computer is taking off and landing the airplane.
Hmmm, how come nobody showed me where the "land" button is on my modern Airliner? Probably less than 1% of all landings are done on Autoland...and ABSOLUTELY 0 takeoffs are done by the Autopilot.
Not exactly. They do pull the plane up during takeoff and land it manually if the weather conditions are good. Autopilot basically controls the plane's lateral and vertical movements after takeoff, and pilots must monitor that.
The landing was pretty rough

We're on our final approach now.
please put away all portable electronic devices.
how did you record that without getting caught?
fsimpro 3 years ago
You are allowed to have anything that does not send/recieve a wireless signal, like a laptop, cellphone, etc.
A digital camera, etc, are fine.
Airportchris2 3 years ago 2
yea but on final descent landing no electronic devices.

HOLY MOLY!!!
That was a NOISY landing after you touched down ... either the airport needs a new runway or the plane's shocks need replacement ... LOL!
Nice video!
gorbidog 4 years ago
It's the runway--I flew CX SFO-HKG and back, at SFO, it was LOUD! This video doesn't do justice to that noise.

only used about 6000 feet, good landing

the spoilers do open automatically. they set the speed beak lever to auto. so as soon as the gears touch down. the spoilers come up.

Smooth take-offs and landings has nothing to do with the airline company.
Silly... LOL! Hahaha!

I think pilots do more than computers when taking off and landing. Well, im emergancies, anyway.

they mostly choose to take manual control in case if the computer messes up
