The elimination of corporate welfare would probably eliminate the need for a federal income tax. This includes the government printing it's own currency rather than paying interest on debt based Federal Reserve notes. Couple that with the dismantling of the American military empire around the globe and other forms of raising revenue would be plenty to run the US government as it was run before 1913.
What is listed as "Local Access" in my TV listings is nothing but round the clock infomercials (The same ones that play after hours on national and local stations). We can't even have access to our local access stations.

The credit for inovations by Marconi, Tesla, Edison and several others are being robbed. I agree there are to many government restrictions on broadcast rights. The airwaves should be free of any sole ownership. You don't like limbaugh, well thats fine, but don't be facist about eliminating a view you don't approve of.
there's a limit to how much crap you can put on the airwaves, so with enough money/equip.you can take over the whole thing, and apart from newer things like cable and internet, regulating airwave traffic is important for communication in a free society.
You may have a point that nobody should own it rather than, as Nader says, airwaves being public property to be rented out.. The real problem right now is that the FCC makes it impossible to use the airwaves unless you have a lot of money.

This is not "welfare". If nobody listened to Rush Limbaugh then he would not be making 38 million dollars a year. He would be making zero dollars a year. The fact is, Rush provides a service (i.e. radio entertainment) and he gets paid for that service. Along with listeners, he also provides airtime for companies that want to advertise their products.
However, people on "welfare" do not provide a service. They do not provide airtime for companies. They simply take money.

As Mudshark said, it would be like setting up a store in a public park and not paying rent. In your example, your front yard is your own private property. So, yes, there is no need to charge your kids to sell lemonade. Like many corporations, Rush wants socialism for himself; capitalism for everyone else.

there's a limit to how much crap you can put on the airwaves, so with enough money/equip.you can take over the whole thing, and apart from newer things like cable and internet, regulating airwave traffic is important for communication in a free society.
You may have a point that nobody should own it rather than, as Nader says, airwaves being public property to be rented out.. The real problem right now is that the FCC makes it impossible to use the airwaves unless you have a lot of money.

The government does not tax Rush and his corporations for the hours they use on the public airwaves.
Thus, the government which taxes on other industries, does not tax Rush for this particular service. However, we must realize these radio airwaves are NOT FREE. Who pays for them? The public. And Rush greatly benefits from these tax dollars. Nader is trying to point out the hypocricy in Rush's theory of free loading.

At present I am planning to vote Nader but when I get to the polls if it looks like it will come down to "the lessor of 2 evils" I will have to go Obama. Examine the facts before you make up your mind. If possible find a poll in your state that shows a head to head match up and then a three or four way match up. You can see who Ralph is taking votes from that year. Currently he in New Mexico he is taking 4 % from McCain and only 2% from Obama. I live in Ohio but will vote for him either way.

This is not "welfare". If nobody listened to Rush Limbaugh then he would not be making 38 million dollars a year. He would be making zero dollars a year. The fact is, Rush provides a service (i.e. radio entertainment) and he gets paid for that service. Along with listeners, he also provides airtime for companies that want to advertise their products.

I am very disgusted with Rush Limbaugh. 38 million and he will not even throw a couple hundred thousand for his use of public property. He has a right to use it and has a right to make his money. But when he makes so much money it is sad to see people standing in welfare lines and struggling to survive.

The issue that Nader is talking about is corporate welfare, where he calls corporations out on the hypocracy of relying on taxpayers money in the form of government subsidies, government bailouts, and in this case the issue is free licenced broadcasting of public airways.

Actually the issue that he's tackling is corporate welfare, where self proclaimed conservatives that are against government hand outs, actually rely on taxpayers money. For subsiidies to bail outs of companies, and in this case he's tackling the issue of free licenced broadcasting.
