Actually Nixon was pretty generous with this woman, he usually doesn't suffer fools gladly and finds an exit to many of these types of calls fairly quickly, I'm surprised he didn't wrap it up earlier, but instead found other things to add to the conversation.

She certainly sounds as though she was loaded, but it's possible she talks this way all the time, who knows?

@MediaWatchDawg Nixon often did express well-wishes to Democrats. RMN and Hubert Humphrey were very close friends, and LBJ was also close friends with Nixon.

While presenting himself as a staunch Republican, Nixon seemed to prefer working with Dixiecrats and other conservative Democrats. It might interest you to know that before his death, Nixon & (then) Pres. Bill Clinton also developed a friendship.

Well, I see that as something positive. For whatever problems we as a nation (U.S.A.) face, and there are many, one good thing about this country is that people of different political beliefs can still work together. Consider that Se. Orin Hatch was very close friends with The Late Sen. Ted Kennedy. Strange bedfellows?? Perhaps, but it positioned both of them to be very effective deal brokers on Capitol Hill.
